BBC interviews at Masters

The BBC coverage in my opinion is much more humble in its coverage. It doesn't use the same gadgets and Gizmos that Sky use, it solely relies on the quirkiness of Aliss and Brown. I personally enjoy their coverage plainly because they show more Golf! That's all I really want. I can come to my own conclusions and be entertained by the funny little comments made by Aliss. I also hate Monty and Roe. But that doesn't really effect my judgement. :)

Sky showed more golf than the BBC over Saturday and Sunday!

I mostly watched bbc's coverage on the saturday and sunday as i cant stand monty and the adverts on sky. Much prefer allis and generally BBC's coverage.

Didnt mind vaughans interviews but have to admit bbc could have chosen a better person to do it!

At least Monty can speak with more authority on the game and the Masters than the whole of the BBC team put together!

As for the ads, 30 second breaks arent too bad

Personally I love Peter Alliss commentary as well. I find him very entertaining.
Here Here..I switched form Sky for the weekend..One for Mr Alliss' comments..and Two..to avoid the adverts..Oh and Three to get away from Mark Roe..Yet is commentary on Wed for the Par 3 contest was great...why can't he be that relaxed all the time..

Think the amount of stick he is getting is ridiculous, especially for the Woods mistake.

Murray Walker made 20 errors per race and every F1 fan loves him to this day.

He did a reasonable job of talking to the players. Would he be my choice? Probably not, but it's like he is being punished because he was a professional cricketer and not a professional golfer, which is silly.

If Westwood and Harrington were off with him it's because they both feel like they threw away a chance to win the Masters, and that is certainly not Vaughan's fault!

Well said.
Me ,well i was just happy to watch golf.
I havnt got sky sports, and the computer is always freezing.
It just goes to show from the comments so far,you wont please everyone, and it wont
matter to some whos commentating, they will always find hate somewhere.

Give people a platform ......

I had to watch the BBC as I haven't got SKY.
I thought the BBC coverage was good but then, as I say, I can't do a direct comparison.
I did think that having Vaughan there smacked of an old boys club. I doubt he got the job on merit, rather, he'd had a nice, boozy lunch with a director at the BBC who then gave him the role. I'm sure there are far better suited people from within the world of golf who could have done the job. Perhaps someone from within the GM team? Mind you, we, as the viewer, would want someone with a bit of personality.....

I'm only joking..... :o

Vaughan doesn't drink.

I enjoyed both, but prob bbc a bit more,i do find Tim barter a bit annoying, and looked to me that some of the players prefered MV's questioning than his but then again i'm not a much of a fan

Watched the BBC coverage by way of a change from the usual Sky team... None of the Sky crew are particularly bad but none are particularly good either... [Monty is, I agree, improving]... Still find that blasted electronic board thingy they use as totally pointless...

Wasn't to fussed about Vaughan's efforts [most probably not worth an invite to return]... Made a change from just using a 'skirt' to do the job...

For me Allis's best 'effort' was when Blubba was just about to putt out for the win and he said something along the lines of... "Now is maybe not a good time to be wearing white trousers"...

The most surprising thing about the Tiger interview was that he was speaking to the BBC! In previous majors the BBC has only shown his interview with one of the US networks (CBS?).

Westy's been giving him some stick on twitter today!

Im a Sky stalwart, jury's still out on Monty in the commentary box for me though. If i was sky i'd have Andrew Cottar signed up.
Must admit the beeb's major coverage (and Ryder cups) on five live is superb.

I like Michael Vaughan, he does a great job for Test Match Special and other cricket work, but he was SO far out of his depth. I am afraid the BBC are offering jobs to their mates. You can bet there was some agreement between the BBC, Chris Evans, Michael Vaughan etc that if they worked for the Beeb on other shows, there would be some mutual back scratching.

With regards the coverage, I was gutted. I love the Masters and all of this is thanks to the hours of watching on BBC2 when I was growing up. The colours, the atmosphere, being able to stay up late all thanks to the beeb. This year was a joke, I don't have Sky, NO coverage live Thursday or Friday and then a load of tripe served up when there was golf....never been so tempted to line Murdoch's pockets and THAT is saying something!

The BBC are such a bunch of pretenders,a bunch or amateurs. Some of the hsite Alliss comes out with is soooo bad,he is way out of touch with the modern day game and constantly sounds like he's going to have a heart attack because someone has knocked out a 300 plus drive.

Sure through my drink haze I heard the old fud saying that none of the men in with a chance of winning used anything but a standard putter......says it all about the standard of the BBC team and don't even get me started on that fanny Vaughen.

It is quite sad but a sign of the times. The BBC was state of the art and globally respected for its sports pictures and commentary. Then it got lazy, expected all of the top events for no cash as its only competition was ITV. Then game Murdoch and Sky took the game to a new level both with funding and technology. Yes the BBC has some great commentators for a number of sports but they are a dying breed and there is no next generation coming through as the obsession with celebrity continues. Pretty much all that the BBC has now are events on the protected list and I am not sure how long that will last. Sport needs money more than ever now and they will be crying out to have their crown jewels taken off the protected list to attract a higher price tag.

BBC funding is going down, people now have a legitimate argument not to pay for the BBC (I Hardly watch it) and sport is very low on the priorities. The day is coming where there will be no sport on terrestrial TV.

It seems now that the BBC are very much trying to use the same group of people to present all of their sport coverage. I could be wrong but I remember Gary Lineker tweeting how he declined the BBC's offer to present the Masters as he prefered watching it on television, rather than presenting.

Sort of shows the BBCs reluctance to offer actual Golf reporters or journalists a chance to show what they can do seeing as Lineker's replacement was an already heavily featured BBC presenter.

Vaughan was such a poor choice and so clearly out of his depth. Why was Chris Evans was fronting the 5 live coverage. Leave it to experts in their field. Oh that'll be it then. BBC don't have any. I like Ken Brown and have a soft spot for Alliss but Ken is doing the same on course bit every year and sadly even though there wasn't a huge gaff I'm afraid Alliss has just run out of steam. I preferred everything about the Sky coverage and only really watched BBC in the ad breaks

Watched Sky and switched to the Beeb during the ad breaks. Sad to say but the Beeb is like an old player who was once great but is now past his best - resting on past glories.

Sky seems so much more professional. Butch is great, David Livingston is an excellent anchor, very composed and in control but not pushy, and Monty is getting a lot better.

Beeb wants to put its money into competing with ITV1 with things like the Voice. Don't think it is really interested in sport any more. And Chris Evans? No thanks.

Only BBC channel I really watch now is the excellent BBC4 which is like the old BBC2.
