Cheers mate. Not even sure if I can definitely play as all players are required to play Saturday AND Sunday, need to make sure HID hasn't booked anything that weekend without telling me
Should be fine though. Just got to keep my fingers crossed.

What you mean by club championship mate ?? Captains or something ?? Dont think we work the same here .. Id be peeved if i was a full member & couldnt play , mayb if theres a big intrest it should be played over 2 weekends , qualifying 1st weekend , final rounds drawn on scores the 2nd weekend .. there is a sat prize the 2nd weekend as sat players are normaly too far back to contend .. Thats the way our captains prize is done & everyone gets chance to play ..

Club Championship - i.e. the "major" of the year at the club.
There's only a limited number of spots as the tee times can't be taken all day because the club relies on alot of pay and play business (I assume this is the case).

Ours is a Scratch event, only 12 h'caps and below can enter with a max of 36 players. Theres also an extra prize for best Nett score so everyone has summat to play for

how can you be classed as club champion out of a field of the first 36 name entered .. we have a captains prize as i explained earlier over 2 weekends so every member has a chance to play , we have an order of merit / player of the year thing aswell 12 comps over the year 50 points for 1st to 1 point for 50th ,, consistancy is the key here

3 questions please chris (1) If you were consistantly outside the top 50 would you deserve to be golfer of the year ? (2) if you have 50 guys under 12 wanting to play how do you pick 36 ?(3) if one or 2 of the clubs best golfers missed the chance to get name on time down for personal or family reasons would it take from the quality/stature of the comp .. im not criticising it man i just dont understand how you can have a CLUB championship made up of 36 players unless there was open qualifying for all members.. also just wondering, if you made the 36 as a 12.4 & got .1 back before the comp (13) can you still play

If there is more than 36 entries then the lowest 36 h'caps get selected.... after all it is a Scratch comp, so lowest handicaps get priority.

Agreed , like most scratch events if you are oversubscribed then the comp committee will apply a ballot. The 36 golfers with the lowest exact h/c will get through the ballot and the rest can apply to caddie for their mates

no def not.. coz you would only have 50 points ,anyone that won a comp would have that in one outing , 50 points would not get anywhere near it .. you need to aveage it out , playing to your handicap in most of the qualifying comps gets you good points, if you finished say 10th (41pts) 3 times you acumulate aprox 123 pts etc .. its a prize aimed at the most consistant golfer over the year realy ,,

Which is fine for what it does, establish the most consistent golfer over the season, relative to their handicap, but the club champs should be a scratch event, not a handicapped one.

cheers that explains it guys ,, Do you guys who have it in yer clubs think its fair tho ?? like if your a 13 handicapper you cannot be club champion .. dont get me wrong we have scratch cups but it is a stand alone comp. Like i say im just wondering coz i havent heard of this before ..
