Bangladesh - Morgan and Hales choose not to tour ......

Good start for Buttler in Bangladesh

Also good to see Duckett get off to a nice half century on his debut. Nice to see Stokes getting a ton ( still makes me giggle when someone dismissed him as an international player )

So good to see England performing in ODI's. Makes me shudder thinking about the days when the laptop told them that 240 would win them most matches.

Great result. Just shows that if you have batsmen that can score quickly and bowlers who can take wickets you can win ODI's even when it looks like the opposition is cruising. England are so much more interesting these days.

Good result and it's about winning, but how much do you think that crippling humidity affected the Bangladesh reply. I know they should be use to it as the home side but it did seem to affect their men in form and then they went soon after. The break certainly helped England. All said and done, a good total to defend and they managed it

Great chase from England today. Winning an ODI series in Bangladesh is nothing to be sniffed at. England looking like an ODI side making very good progress.

Had the better of conditions today but made the most of it for sure. Super inns from Billings and Duckett set the tone and Woakes and Stokes saw them home in style. Assuming Hales comes back in cant see Vince getting another go for a good while and even Morgans going to struggle to walk straight back in. Moeen must be getting close to being on borrowed time in ODIs, hideous shot again today and not exactly excelled with the ball in helpful conditions

It's good to have lots of options

It's going to be a strong ODI squad England will have

Right now I think I would go ( injury dependant obviously )

Roy
Billings
Duckett
Root
Morgan
Stokes
Buttler
Ali
Woakes
Rashid
Willey

It's a line up that bats all the way down

Wish Wood wasn't out for a while again because he would be in for Willey

And then in reserve you have Hales , Vince , Bairstow , Plunkett , Finn

It's a strong squad and exciting times ahead with also some good youngsters in the Lions

Cant see how you can leave Hales out, has to be ahead of Billings and Morgan for me.

Also a bowler light for sure, 2 seamers, Stokes and 2 spinners not enough options with the ball

1st odi in India be something like

Roy
Hales
Root
Duckett
Stokes
Buttler
Woakes
Dawson
Rashid
Wood
Ball

Can't see Morgan not going straight back in - he is the ODI skipper and a big reason they are at the level they are now, not getting the big scores maybe but still putting crucial runs on the board over the last year.

I think they will give Billings another series or at least the next ODI

Wood is looking like another ankle op so can't see him touring India

Dawson will be a lame duck out there tbh - he just isn't a threat

It's possible they will look to Root as the second spinner and leave Ali out

But it's good to know that we are choosing between quality players with many more waiting

I agree Morgan will walk straight back in, just dont think his batting gets him in the side on merit currently (and also think his captaincy is overrated). Billings will get another chance just not sure it will be immediately, didnt realise Wood was that bad, shame if so, Dawson next in line for a chance surely, Ali got 1 wicket in 3 games in Bangladesh, Indians hardly gonna be worried about him are they? Root an OK part time option but have to pick 2 proper spinners in India surely (albeit the cupboards as empty as it comes)

Ali seems to be just tieing an end down because whilst not taking wickets he is bowling with a lot of control and not giving too many runs

Only heard about Wood the other day - gutted for him because he has the ability to be the best in the world , just hope it's not another Simon Jones.

England left the two best spinners behind in Leach and Rayner - one of them should be on the tour

Leach 9 wickets at 38 in 50 over and didnt play in T20 and Rayner 6 wickets at 41 in 50 over and 5 wickets at 22 in 5 games in T20 this season (not picked for half the games) - neither hardly made a compelling case in limited over cricket have they that makes them the best 2 spinners?

I can't argue with a word you've said. See it the same way. The spin department a big concern in bowler friendly conditions

Good that Duckett is getting a go. Mind you, he looks like has lead boots! Stick the spinner on when he's batting! He played his dismissal ball like our number 11, batting the wrong way :p

Turning pitch on day one.

So just what has Moeen Ali done to warrant batting above Stokes and Bairstow in the first test?! Or even Woakes for that matter.

Someone to try and steady a bit alongside Root after loosing three quick wickets - good to see the batting line up can be fluid and it did what was asked - steadied the ship

Who's idea was it to put Moeen at 5?! Stroke of genius! ;)

An interesting first day; Bangladesh using just the 8 bowlers whilst having the temerity to bowl 2 more overs than required! Shocking display, in this day and age when the paying public are so used to getting short shrift. (Assuming any turned up!)
