Balls

Yeah all green, very very easy to spot in the air and weirdly also easy to see on the fairway too, dunno why it works like that but it does
I've got a friend who has tried a few different colours and the lime green are comfortably the best to spot. It doesn't sound logical but they work.

For the weekend should I play the super soft or the soft feel? Got a box of each at home. Decisions decisions

edit , just remembered I've got one of these in the bag too

Go with the Vice looks the best to me.

Have often wondered about the visibility of some coloured balls in the winter.

I’ve always tried not to play anything other than white, genuinely can’t give a decent reason why though! I’m tempted with some Yellow ones but won’t play this winter so maybe next year.

It’s baffle me though how Green is so easy to spot on grass, I can’t understand Red balls though surely they can’t be easy to find especially amongst leaves etc.

It must be something to do with contrast 🤷.

The worst is blue. Whether solid blue or the TM with the thick blue line, they just blend in against the fairway and green. They are unusable to me, maybe it's how my eyes work.

Orange isn't bad, red is okay unless it's autumn at which point they become like the blue balls 😄.

Clever marketing by companies. How do you make a white ball different, make it green, red, orange etc

The half and half balls, especially blue/yellow are impossible to see after they leave the clubface. Against the sky or the grass they just go invisible.

Nobody wants blue balls 😳😏

I think you’re right it’s just really good marketing. Thought the white and pink splatter Suoersofts are quite easy to spot. Mrs M uses them and they stand out, I couldn’t do it though far to busy and to much going on with the ball. Just give me white and perhaps maybe yellow but in one solid colour.

My favs are Nike PD soft. Not made anymore. Tiger used to play Nike balls. Remind me how many Majors he won again? He moved to Bridgestone, I like those as well. So me and Tiger are basically the same. Shut up, shut up, shut up We are so ner!
I believe it was revealed that Bridgestone were making the Nike balls he was using anyway, hence why he effectively stayed with them when Nike stopped producing stuff.

The Nike balls were made by Bridgestone. So when Nike pulled out of the equipment market Bridgestone just switched the logo printer.

I’m colour blind. I love the blue balls. I can see them from miles away.

Lime green are the best for me. But no one makes a decent ball in lime green.

I pretty much use ProV1x from April to November. They are the best ball for me.

I struggle to get my head round why people who say they care about shooting good scores, getting their handicap down or winning competitions wouldn’t use the best ball they can, or at least the same ball. You are at least getting some consistency.

A ball may ‘feel’ the same as another, or even launch in a similar way. But cheaper or poorer quality balls won’t retain spin or fly as consistently. And spin is our friend, it keeps the ball in the air and flying straight. It’s very useful when the ball lands too.

With the coloured balls in winter, I find that I can see orange balls really well against the winter sky and once they hit the ground, and so I bought a dozen a couple of years ago. However, I’ve still got 3/4 of a box left because I can’t use them, they blend in with the leaves on our course far too well!

I think it’s a personal thing, some people can see orange/red, others can’t. Some can see blue/green, others can’t. Very strange. I used a pick up TM stripe thing a couple of months ago, the ones with the big, thick red stripe going around it. Hated it. Couldn’t see the thing on the ground, and it looked weird spinning in the sky!

I have color blindness (small areas disappear in large areas, e.g., a red ball on the fairway). White balls don't have enough contrast, so I easily overlook them, but yellow balls work perfectly for me!

You might want to give it a try ?!

BTW : Which ball is the Forums recommendation for high handicapers ?
Actually I play Callaway Supersoft … !?

Yeah i used one of these half half last weekend, if you tee them up right it can induce a fit for you PP as it flies through the air 😉

TW played the Nike One Tours and was rumoured to use the Nike one Tour D when practicing.

I loved the One Tour Ds ( there was a noticeable distance difference between the 2 for me)

I once saw 6 doz on ebay some time after they were discontinued but I was easily outbid for them.

A couple of years ago I was playing the RZN MS Tours, they were the company that made the Nike balls.
