Went for a Custom Fitting yesterday and was talking to The Pro about balls used. He went through my swing spped, nat particulary fast and he confirmed thsat PROV1 was not the ball for me which I already knew.

What type of ball do you play with and what is the reason? Does anyone know the ideal swing speed for using a PROV1 and relative swing speed for other balls?

I play Bridgestone Tour B330S. Not suited to my swingspeed and there's probably a ball more suited to me but I've tried several mid range and Premium balls and don't notice much difference in length off the tee and like the feel of the Premium balls around and on the green.

I go with the Bridgestone over the ProV1 because it's cheaper but I'd happily use either.

I am very average with my swing speed and I use Bridgestone E6 or Titleist NXT Tours in the summer. Both offer good distance for me with good spin on iron shots. In the winter I use yellow Pinnacle Gold precisions. They are a little firm off the face but are good for the distance and stop well enough.

Callaway Tour i (s) in the summer as I like the feel of the face of the club and their bite on the green

Nike PD Softs in the winter as also like the feel and flight, and the fact I am getting them as lakeballs @ 50p per ball for Pearl Grade.

I use Bridgestone B330s which Titleist allegedly copied to make the Pro V1x. I have a pretty quick swing speed but this is the straightest premium for me and is great around the greens. But as it's winter and getting a bit damp I'm currently using Noodle+ balls.

never thought I'd come accross anyone admitting to actually paying for Pinnacle Gold's:D

Bridgestone B330-s would be my first choice.

I'd recommend looking at the callaway hx diablo tour. Playing these recently and much better, imo, than the nxt tour.

In the Summer I'll use any premium ball - Zstar, ProV(both), 330's, Cally i(both) etc etc.
I don't believe that there is a real difference between them at the level of golf I play so it makes no difference which I play.
In the Winter I'll use almost anything that spins a little - NXT Tour, HX HOt, Burner, etc etc

Any premium ball that does not have callaway printed on it. They are all rocks, and made by the same factory that makes topflite. I have tried to get on with them, but can't. The last time I tried to use a cally tour i, I had moaned about it so much by the third green my playing partner picked it out of the hole and threw it into the woods.

Other than that, any premium ball I get for a good price.

Predominantly Srixon at the moment. Ad333 in winter and z stars during the season. I also throw in a titleist if my round isn't going to plan anything to try and change my rhythm.

The only premium ball I've never got on with is the TM Penta and they shoudl have stuck wit the TP black and red. The Penta seems much shorter off the tee (even for me) and is dead off mid irons and for chipping and putting.

I got measured at Maidenhead Golf Centre when they opened the Srixon/CLevand fitting centre and I got chatting to the guy running it who was mad keen to show off the equipment to all and sundry. I am suited to the Z Star XV for my swing speed and launch. I guess that equates to the Pro V1x or THe B330RXS which I do use.

In winter I've favoured the AD333 but I'm going to try the TM Burner TP. At £20 per box not much more than the AD333 and hopefully as a 3 piece I'll get the extra distance and a bit more feel
