Ballesteros to play in next years Open???

I wouldn't worry too much about Seve taking another player's place. It is very unlikely he will play. Reports were that he had a grade IV astrocytoma, and if that is true, he will be happy to be alive next year by The Open. He has also probably suffered some motor damage as a result of surgery, other treatment and complications. I think Tom Watson has a better chance of contending again next year than Seve playing a hole of golf.

Did Seve ever have a farewell performance in the same way that Jack and others have done ? (I wasn't playing then so really have no idea)

I often get the feeling that Seve is idolised far more in the UK & Ireland than in any other, including Spain. What better place for his swan song?
