Any one got a core strength for golf training programme they use? Had a lesson tonight and swing is looking good but struggling with the longer clubs mainly because my balance is all over the show. I'm like a blinking giraffe on roller skates!!!!

Any pointers very welcome

yes, get some strong loft GI irons you will be hitting them 10 yards further no problem;)

I have had some problems with this before and in my pre shot routine I can of squat before aligning myself. It gives me the feeling im "rooted"
After that just focus on keeping your head straight over the ball and your body will do the rest.
I think its more about getting rid of unnecessary movements rather than strength training.
Try it :)

Nope definitely strength training. I was diagnosed with MS 7.5 years ago and it stopped me being physically active for a while. Getting back into running but having the same problem with my legs - strength just isn't there anymore. Just need to start working it with some pilates and core exercises and I'll be cooking on gas :)

Make sure you are in balance when addressing the ball, then there is less chance of losing it during the swing. :)

You could try My TPI loads of advice on there and strength exercises specifically for whatever you want to focus on.
but the issue I have is where do you start and know what's going to help your issue as there is so much. Think they should develop like a general beginners intermediate and advance workout programs.

I had a lesson a few weeks ago, and we discussed balance in detail. Ensure you put a little more weight on the balls of your feet. Make sure your chest is in line with your knees. Focus on the ball, don't try and hit it to hard, and concentrate on tempo, not speed. If you do all this, after you have struck the ball, you will end up in the classic golfers stance, and be perfectly balanced. If your not balanced after the stroke, you haven't done everything correctly as listed. You don't need to think about balance, it happens as a result of doing everything else right.

So true. There's a wealth of information out there but nothing about how to assess your current level and the plans for improvement like runners get. If you are a beginner intermediate or advanced runner you can get training programmes. Wonder if the GM team could do something as a pullout?

All very sound advice. But I've got a coach. We talk about posture and set up. We've identified that my issues stem from a weak core. So I'm looking for info people have on building core strength. Cheers
