Went to the range tonight with gcd,i reckon the first 20 balls i hit were all shanks right thru my irons,i've maybe hit one or two over the years but never that many in a row it was a total mare.

When i stopped hitting the dreaded shot i was hitting the ball miles in the air and it went no place ,another thing i've never had is a ball flight that high.

The best bit was hitting the R11 gcd got from Auchterlonies as a demo hit some beletrs with it even we couldn't adjust it due to the way it was taped up,noticed he was hitting it really well might be new irons and a driver for him :)

Blimey , you could have bought one, got bored with it, sold it and bought a proper driver by now... :D :D :D

It is a proper driver Ian i can assure you of that, once i get mine Dustin Johnson eat your heart out :D :D :D. I think its a Marmite club you either like or you don't ,i like it.In saying that the 910 is a cracking looking club and is getting good reviews but is it just hype.

I would just put it down to a bad night, next time the ball will fly better, just dont think too much about the night!!

Cheers James, once i hit the first few it was in the head and i kept hitting them.I thought i was making my normal swing but obviously not.

If it helps they say a shank is close to a perfect strike!
:)

I had an issue couple years back, my alignment was out, the pro at the gc gave me quick free lesson and told me to deliberately hit a shank! I couldnt, he got me lined up and happy days!

One off for you mate, dont even worry bout it...

Its a shot i've never really had an issue with maybe the odd one or two but nearly every one my head was scrambled :D :D. Think i'll put it down to experience , i've worked hard on my game over the winter in all weathers and didn't see that coming at all.

You did the exact same thing I did on Tuesday night! I could have cried when I got home after shanking 20 out of the last 30 balls!

I have only started shanking since my pro has started getting me to try and turn my hips more. I do not think I have the strength there to control it yet(who exercises their hips?)therefore I loose control. I have good strength in my arms and back as well as my legs so I can control a more arms and shoulder based swing.

I have a lesson booked, I know my pro will understand, he know how well I can hit balls and I bet he will fix me in under a minute, he usually does!

Myt swing is rubbish at the moment. Not sure what is happening on the way back, either too steep or too flat. The contact isn't great and when I do hit down and compress it properly its going sharp left. Think a lesson may sort me. It doesn't actually feel too far from being good at times and other times it feels so uncoordinated it just isn't funny

Pre Friday 18th nerves for you Steve, scared how the big dog is gonna live up to the 910 boom boom machine! Next you'll be posting abount not sleeping!!!!!!
