How about this for bad luck. Having not played for 3 to 4 weeks due to the white stuff, the course is now fully open, I was due to play a friendly today, and a comp on Saturday and.......I've now got a bad case of tennis elbow in the right arm. Can't even grip a book, never mind a golf club. Had it in the other arm about 10 years ago and wasted time on the usual physio/acupuncture/cortisone mallarkey. No faffing about this time, went straight to the cortisone jab this morning. Just praying it sorts it out.

Ouch!! Best of luck hope all goes well for you. Always worries me though - have an injection to take the pain away but what extra damage can you do to yourself then when you can't feel it!?
Anyway Enjoy your game and give em hell!! :D

Not good. Rest it and wait for the start of the season. Who wants to play on wet fairways and temporary greens anyway. Much better to let it heal now than miss the start of the season, the warmer weather and the trophy matches. Personally I wouldn't be getting it injected unless it was a match of life and death

A hacking session out of the heather at Hankley Common in August brought on a return of the dreaded tennis elbow for me in my right arm. Cocked up my week-end away with the lads the following week, and despite not playing much over the last few months it's still giving me grief every now and then. Some days it's fine, others I've only got to pick up a cup of coffee and it reminds me it hasn't gone yet.
I'm hoping and praying it eases off before the season gets underway because I've got some great venues lined up over the next few months. You have my sympathy 'cos it's a bugger to try to play golf when it's hurting.

Having had Tendonitis in ones right elbow about 6 months ago, I recall a conversation with a Physio who said that 90% of "Tennis Elbow" problems stemmed from Neck or shoulder problems, often posture related.

I had a couple of neck sessions, didnt work so had the cortisone, been Ok since

Fragger (known to his mates as lefty)

I had tennis elbow a year ago. I bought an epicondylitis strap, and wore it every time I played golf for about 6 months. People took the mick, saying what good does it do, but, I don't have tennis elbow any more. Who's laughing now. I keep it in my golf bag just in case I ever get a twinge. Not needed it so far.

Thanks for all the messages lads. I've still got the strapy thing (I await the fallout from this!!) from the last time I had it, and so I was already wearing it when required. Hope the doc has injected the right spot as it hurts like s--t at the moment.

Be very carefull with the jabs....a pal of mine was getting them for a while and has really done a lot of harm and is waiting for an op to sort it. My advise get it properly scanned if you can.

Good luck..

Didsbury,
I too echo the posts of some also as regards the jabs... Iv read a little about the cortisone injections when i snapped my achilles and what most of the information is about is that its a qiuck fix to a long term problem...It also said that getting that jab will degenerate the tendon tissue over time and prolong it to further injury in the future.
Just be careful you dont do long term damage.

Have you got the correct strap for your elbow? The one I had had a small raised section inside that sat on the sore part, golfers or tennis elbow (Different parts of the elbow). Worked a treat!!

I didn't have a strap with me in Cornwall so we "cobbled" one together with some insulation tape and a cotton pad. Bought a strap as soon as I got home but it doesn't really do a lot of good to be honest.
If it's not hurting too bad, woods off the tee are still going OK as you are sweeping those away, but it's on iron shots that I am suffering. Fear of jarring my arm is forcing me to ease off the shot subconsciously and I am losing a bit of power, subsequently distance.
The softer ground helps though

Yes thanks. It's a Thamert Epi-Med, purchased off a private sports physio. I find that it does help a bit when playing golf, driving the car..etc.
