Morning all, I know this subject has been done to death but its the 1st time i've endured it and commented on it so I thought it was worth a mention.
I went to my local course on Monday for a knock as I was considering joining next year as its a lot closer than my present club, on arrival in the car park it was pretty empty and I was expecting a nice quiet knock.
We pitched up on the 1st tee and me & my partner tee'd off as the group in front of us (2 ball) were on the green, the 1st is only a short par 4 of 215yds but the green is very elevated and small so I played it safe down the fairway, anyway my partner stuffed his tee shot into the cabbage and whilst we were looking a pair of seniors arrived on the tee. We spent no more than a minute looking before he gave up and took a drop. As we're walking up the fairway I can hear these 2 on the tee complaining about us taking too long, I didnt say anything just carried on, we reached the green and are just putting when a ball comes thumping onto the green and whizzes past us from these 2 seniors, no shouts of 'fore' no apologies or anything.
The 2nd is a longish par 5, we tee'd off and my partner wasnt very long off the tee, we were waiting on the fairway next to his ball as the 2 ball in front of us had lost a ball, as we were waiting these 2 appeared on the tee and promptly tee'd off with one of them going straight past us. Again I didnt say anything on this hole.
The 3rd is a driveable par 4 as the tee is very elevated, there is a massive bell next to the green for players to ring when they are clear, me & my partner are on the green and i'm putting for a birdie when a great big whack and a ball smacks my bag then a few seconds later as we're still on the green the 2nd ball from them comes trundling onto the green.
So as we walk off the green I can see them appearing over the hill and sarcastically ring the bell and then wait for them, as they walk down the hill I approach them and ask them what their problem is, at which point I get a mouthful for not letting them through on the 1st!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A few choice words later (basically them saying as members they should have the right to go through over us pay & players lol) and off I pop to the 4th tee and tee off.
This whole process continues all the way around until it boils over on the 13th, we had tee'd off and were in the fairway waiting for the group in front to clear the green when these 2 tossers tee off and for the 2nd time hit my bag, at which point I take my driver out, tee this guys ball up in the fairway and (at this point I'd love to say I smashed it back over his head) sliced it massively OOB as I was that mad. Cue this pillock coming down the fairway waving his driver at me and wanting to square up to me for crying out loud!!!
Anyway, we get back to the clubhouse and I ask to speak to the general manager and I explain that I was considering joining but will now not bother if that is the calibre of members they have, the manager then explains that he has complaints about this group every month but as yet have not done anything about it, he apologised profusely and offered us a free round as compensation.
What is the deal with some of these seniors that they think they bloody own the place?????
Rant over, I feel better now!
