Went up to the course last night to play a few holes and generally get a bit of practice.
Pretty much SH*NKED every ball. Only had decent balls in the bag and lost most of them.

Could not for the life of me work out why!!!Wasn’t standing too close or falling forward.

Any ideas

Poor rotation in the downswing, body not clearing out of the way and arms taking over.

Good tip - take a sand wedge and right handed only (tuck left hand behind back) hit a few balls or just swish the club through a spot on the grass. What this does is make you clear the body out of the way properly as you will turn the hips and torso first, leading the right arm into the ball. It also makes you hit with the right hand which may have become passive in the swing, also a cause of shanks i.e the club can come into the ball too open so hosel is getting to the ball first.

After a few swings one handed go back to normal but keep the feeling of the body clearing.

Hips, torso then arms, arms must be passive.

Works for me.

Well left wont work. Well, well left will though, in fact aim at your left leg and you cant go wrong.
I have actually seen someone hit ther own leg with a ball, I dunno about him but I was in stitches. :D

I had the shanks pretty badly at the start of the year, shanking around 10-12 shots per round and still coming in under handicap, figure that one out. Was told that I was not picking the club up quickly enough, 2 minutes later it was all clear and working again. Its amazing that you can get so worked up over one slight adjustment, its a pity all flaws in golf are not as easily fixed.

I had a bad case of them earlier in the year and it was a posture and balance issue. Basically I was too hunched over the ball at address. As I swung the weight came forward onto my toes and the club came back with the face now out of line leaving the hosel to connect and shoot it right. I worked on a more upright address position, weight more centralised.

One of these really helped http://www.118golf.co.uk/Practice-Golf-S...7bd60pd2789.htm

I think you should just change your whole bag over to Ping. Guarenteed instant improvement!

Either that or get a decent haircut, that'll stop these curtains of yours falling into your eyes and causing the j arthurs!!!!!

Hope they're sorted and banished before Machrihanish, it's only 6 months away!!!!
