Evening all

Bit of a mixed year for me.

New grip new bats and I was finally getting somewhere, got my unofically handicap down by 8 shots and even official has been reduced (got a ehc from the secretary in the post this morning)

Anyway I'm not here to discuss "card in the hand syndrome"!

At the tail end of the year, everything except putting has gone off the rails, I don't feel comfortable at address have a thousand swing and negative thoughts

The driver has developed a slice or a high left hook, the wedges are sh?????? T the right And the 3wood and hybrids are being topped all over the show

Like I said earlier the grip has been changed (the right thump has left the right side of the grip and sides in a more orthodox position - with the v lining to my right shoulder (right handed)
But I can't seem to hit anything consistently

As a result I have booked a block of 6 lessons with our head pro and want to go back to basics, literally from scratch excuse the pun.

I've told myself this time I'm gonna be patient and trust the process however long it takes

Just wondering if anyone has literally gone back to the beginning to get it sorted, how did you eradicate your old bad habits and how is it working for you now?

I've set myself a target of 19 officially - hopefully this will be my year

All the best and thanks in advance

starting next friday, booked a course of 12 lessons and 3 playing lessons, asked the pro to change anything thats needed. I know it will be a slow process but I just felt I needed to start properly and take it forward, had too many quick fixes that worked for a week or 2.

Took a year out from comps/membership so as I wont be playing every week with a card in hand I felt now the best time to give it a go.

I have no target just to swing easier and with more control and consistency overall.

Good Luck

I went back to basics in October - I've had a lesson every three weeks or so since then - difference in consistency of ball striking is remarkable.

I hadn't intended playing on a course at all during the process - thought I'd just hit balls instead but after a month I succumbed to a lovely day and went out for a round - It was very frustrating as I had not short game at all after spending a solid month hitting full shots, until I came off the course and realised I'd shot a decent (for me) score.

Generally I go to the range two or three times a week and play one day - sometimes play 18 but more regularly play about 12 holes, main thing I work on while on the course is course management, I've only hit one wood off the fairway in the last month, if I can't reach the green in two I'd rather have a 70 yard shot from the middle of the fairway for my third than be thirty yards closer but in trouble.

Chances are that it will all feel strange during and after lessons, my posture was awful and I struggled with the changes to that for the first month or so - stick with the changes and over time they will become the norm.
