Back from thr rugby

I actually thought the ref didn't have a bad game, he made a few mistakes but on the whole he was pretty consistent which is all you can ask for IMO

He was OK but thought that we were playing advantage for a penalty when Strettle crossed the line. As he did not give the try (and there was no camera angle with a clear enough view to award it) then he should have gone back for the penalty as there was no call of advantage over.

Very good game and there is real hope that this England side can develop into something decent by the next world cup. Ben Youngs should go back to the Tigers until he can find some forme and Toby Flood did not look match fit. Ashton also seems very out of sorts and I would rather see Charlie Sharples on that wing (or even Mark Cueto for a bit of experience).

More to the point, I would give Lancaster a shot at the job full time. Not sure any of the 'big name' candidates could have done better with the players available.

The pain of the result was eased slightly as I walked over the road from the pub to Kingsholm after the game to watch Gloucester comfortably beat Harlequins for the 6th home win in a row. Lovely.

You should have told me you were coming Jon, I could have waved to you from the Corporate Hospitality. Made a nice change from my usual spot in The Shed. And then we could have had some beers afterwards. The Johnny May try gave me goosebumps, I reckon he'll be getting February try of the month to go with his January Player of the Month award.

Yea, I did think about giving you a shout, but by th time I remembered, it was too late! Had been in the jockey all afternoon drinking Doom Bar so wasnt in any fit state! Everyone talks bout Sharples' elite speed, but Johnny is no slouch, absolutely epic try. Charlie's wasn't bad either. Right in front of us too a we were standing in right behind the advertising boards on the west terrace.

May's try wasn't unlike Charlie's from the saints game a few weeks ago. Nice to see us playing some solid rugby though!

Yes cracking game on Saturday and a great performance from England seeing how inexperienced at international level most of the team are. Got to hand it to the Welsh though - they didn't play particularly well, but still managed to get the job done. Given the respective average ages of both teams, looking like a good England Wales rivalry for the 6 Nations over the next few years. Lancaster, Farrell and Rowntree are obviously doing something right so feel that the RFU should appoint them on a full-time basis and give them the opportunity to develop the side for the 2011 RWC.

I think the substitutes were perhaps the reason we didn't win... Youngs had a shocker, he needs to go back to the tigers and find some form, lee Dixon had a great game so I don't understand why they replaced him. Owen farrells injury was a real shame as he was playing well, Toby flood was taking the ball static and didn't distribute well at all, he too needs to go back to the tigers and get some form... Botha was awesome, and Courtney lawes and Matt Stevens were too I'll disciplined when they came on, Now obviously you can't have the whole side playing the whole game but I do think our substitutes cost us

That's exactly how I saw it Mr T!!

(well I lie a bit but it does make it sound as though I know something about the game)
