I am just back from the England v Wales rugby. It was my first ever game and wow what a great experience. I took the advice of people on here and travelled by train the stadium is fabulous and the game lived up to expectations, although a draw would have been a great result. I am basically a football fan but rugby is just so classy, no booing the anthems, no mess, no chanting " the referees a *****" and given the try that wasn't at the end, it was still good natured

Altogether a great day out!

I'm like you matey Football fan always has been my num 1 sport apart from Golf of course. I don't even know all the rules of Rugby but seeing some of it on TV I saw England and Wales fans mixed in the stadium without any hint of trouble. If that was Football there would have been rumbles breaking out all over, as for the chanting the less said about that the better. The last game I went to there was all sorts going on some amusing I have to say but a lot of it really nasty the Harry Roberts song rounded the afternoon off to wind up the Cops!! Glad it was a pleasent experience

Nothing like the atmosphere at a packed Twickenham. Few beers in the car par before hand, a lot after the games in a pub (usually go to St margarets - not as packed and can get served) and no hint of trouble

Sounds good mate, I managed to get away from the office to watch it and I noticed all the things you mentioned. At one point the ref was letting a player know he was pushing it with a 'frown', the player apologised.... i laughed as at a footy match he would have had 8 or 9 screaming overpaid yobs in his face...

Thought england played well.

Totally agree but then you get that respect at all levels of rugby. Its never going to happn in football I'm afraid with the money, corruption and media hype indeliby etched in the games psyche. I thought England lookd a far more fowing side than the turgid team Johnson had and there is real hope with these youngsters that in a year or so we'll have a good side. the big test will come against southern hemisphere sides. That will be a true barometer as to how close they are

Wrong result, but I love rugby for so many reasons.

This.

Great game to watch. Referee was predictably awful for both sides and I'm happy England even kept pace. I see a bright future for those kids.

The pain of the result was eased slightly as I walked over the road from the pub to Kingsholm after the game to watch Gloucester comfortably beat Harlequins for the 6th home win in a row. Lovely.

So jealous. Great match (despite the result) and I could feel the atmosphere sat at home in my front room. I love both rugby and football but at the moment football does have me a bit disillusioned at times. The way every little thing is hyped up, no respect for the ref or other players. I wish that football was the only thing that was doing the talking but sometimes I just can't see past it. Thank god for Rugby.

In football the ref can make bad decisions, in rugby the refs word is FINAL... Even if he is wrong!

I remember one trip to bulls game home at odsall against saints, was in a que for chips an I arrived at the same time as a massive tattooed saints fan. He said to me "you first mate"... I was wearing a bulls scarf :D

A great game of rugby. Twickenham is a fantastic stadium, great atmosphere and England, who are rebuilding after last year's disasters, played very well. Dickson at 9 and especially Farrell at 10 are the future. Farrell could be a real star in the making.

But fair play to Wales - a cracking steal-try to win the match and a deserved Triple Crown.

Ref was pretty good, IMHO

Pleased you had a good day out at 'Twickers'... Yes, the atmosphere is quite different from PL footie matches... Though some ungentlemanly conduct is beginning to creep in... When my lad went last year they were having to request over the PA to show some courtesy to the kickers by not booing whilst the kicks were being taken... Which just encouraged the perpetrators even more, sad...

I used to help run a pub in Richmond which was a big rugby pub. Many a great atmosphere had there the only bother we had was with Welsh fans funny enough, think it was '94 when we stopped them winning the grand slam. But on the whole, gentleman's game played by men and enjoyed and celebrated by beer monsters

I too went to twickenham having thoroughly enjoyed myself despite the loss. We played great rugby and should have won, from where I was sitting it didn't look like a try but I'm sure the replays showed the ball being grounded, ahh well... We showed what we are capable of, Manu tuilangi made a huge impact yesterday, even if he did butcher a try scoring opportunity in the first half

I actually thought the ref didn't have a bad game, he made a few mistakes but on the whole he was pretty consistent which is all you can ask for IMO
