This match is now going into its 5th set. Absolute classic. Why in gods name do the ladies get paid the same as these guys? The ladies final lasted 80 minutes. The first set in the mens final lasted that long and they are playing 5! This equality thing is skewed as far as prize money goes.

Some brilliant tennis played by both finalists,no losers in a final like that.Not only is Djokovic a good winner,he's also a good loser,whens he's been beaten in the past he's always been honest and gracious.

Agreed. Political correctness gone mad. The ladies game is neither as commercially successful or as difficult to succeed in as the mens game and yet they are paid the same.

One point though, 6 hours for 5 sets of tennis is too long bearing in mind only 3 sets went the distance (two 7-5s and a tie break).

Matches are obviously longer now thasn they used to be, longer rallies etc but the time taken between points is getting a bit silly.

As good a match as it was, I doubt there are too many casual fans who managed to sit and watch for the entire 5 hours fifty something minutes.

That was totally brilliant. I used to love watching the tennis back in the days of Borg, McEnroe, Connors, Becker etc but lost interest when Sampras and Federer were overly dominant. Now I am getting back into it (well the Majors anyway) and the standard is absolutely incredible. That last set after 5 hours on court was amazing. Best sports event I have watched since Darren won the Open.

Both those men were emotionally spent at the end. Awesome display by the two best players in the world at the moment. Incredible stamina from Djokovic after his match with Murray only two days ago. Mind you Rafa didn't have it easy against Federer but he seemed to havesome gas left in the tank. These boys are up there with the fittest athletes in the world. Can't wait for Roland Garos.

how do we know because he rarely loses haha!!!

he is unbelievable,out of the blue he went from being a very good tennis player to the absolute best and very hard to beat.

they are as fit as,definately worth the money they earn and get paid.unlike those crappy footballers.

The ladies game is naff imho and they should be paid equally according to the sets played - so 3/5 of the men or play over 5 sets too. Or just relative to their commercial draw and contribution although that would be more difficult to measure.

Funnily enough the good lady managed to come in just as both players were taking their tops off. Uncanny female instinct no doubt. Didn't sit through it all but did watch most of the last set. Great tennis and a true epic.

I tuned in to the end of the ladies final, but not a hint of tops coming off.
