Do you think it could ever hapen on this forum, a match between the scots and the english, with the odd irishman and welshman thrown in.

I noticed that in the report on the St. Andrews challenge match, we were referred to as "The Scots" a couple of times as opposed to "The Readers/Forumers". Which leads me to assume that an international match has already occured, with the result a fair draw.

If you were trying to arrange an amateur home nations forum event, you'd probably have to stage it somewhere like Liverpool to minimize the travelling for all concerned ?

Sounds like a great idea but careful planning would be required.

What a great idea, but who does a Scotsman living in Southern Ireland whos home course is in Northern Ireland represent?

Would be great to get an Irish get together, any other Irish residents interested in arranging a day?

Good point! But why does a Scot live in the Republic and play golf in Ulster?

Live in a village on the north/south border, about a par 5 length into the south. Wife from Derry and used to live there before moving 5 mins down the road into Donegal. Im actually closer to my home course now than i was when living in Derry.

Atticus,

the GM team had their best player, Fergus, in their team as a Scottish ringer so the International criteria wasn't met.

And I concur that Berwick (not knowing which country they want to be part of) would be a suitable neutral venue. Goswick Golf Club in other words.

J_F, what a lovely course Goswick is, played it last summer during that spell of really bad weather and it was in fantastic nick. I have friends in the area who own a small hotel with a super restaurant who im sure would give us a decent deal if we were to book a few rooms.

Thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Links course. Open qualifier and they do a great winter deal of two rounds, soup and sandwiches for about £38. Could you ask for more?
