Are You Mates with Your Golfing Partners

At Shooters I'd say not yet but I have some very good mates that I met through golf back in the NW, who I do and intend to continue going on the October Spain/Portugal jaunt with despite being dahn sarf. Nashy is my mate from primary school and golfing buddy since we were about 11!

Apart from the Winter League, which is 4BBB, I don't play with the same partners from one week to the next as I like to play with different people as often as possible.
I know loads of people to stop and talk to at the club but see none of them outside of golf.

You have to be "selected and chosen" in way and everyone has to agree to your inclusion. You are invited to play and socialise with the group for a few times then it goes to the vote!!!

Come on, be honest, it's the Freemasons golf society isn't it ;)

Three good mates got me to join - we've been abroad several times as a group with OH's, no golf.
They always play together
I play with them when the opportunity arises but quite often the Saturday comps are three ballers so I just bung my name down on the sheet and see what happens.
The best thing I've done is play in "roll ups" and to just enter the comps solo.
I've met and enjoyed the company of a huge range of members.

Good Thread Greg

I joined my club about fourteen years ago with a mate there is now a bunch of about twenty or so of us including wife's, partners, and girl friends. Some of them play golf some don't we have been through most of what life has to throw at you, births, deaths, marriages serious illness and other unexpected events.
We have done and enjoyed all sorts of things together other than golf, if i need help or whatever I know who to call. We don't live in each others pockets if we don't want to join in that's fine not an issue. We come from all walks of life from police to plumbers. I could not meet a finer bunch of like minded people. Apart from forum meets.:)

No. My golf mates are golf mates with whom I play golf, have a beer or two afterwards and meet at the club.

My real mates are the ones I'll go out to the pub with for a laugh and to get into trouble.

At the club im at just playing partners, all good blokes, but only see them when playing, got a couple of good mates who play but not members, we play when we can and, to be honest, its no different, I try to have good time who ever I play with,

We have a squad of 19 ranging in age from 21 to 57 ,the younger lads all Cat 1 players enjoy the banter that goes on and are relative newcomers to our mob but in general the core group of 12 of us have known one another for over 20 years thru playing football and golf.

We have loads of nights out and parties, barbies with the wife's and families as well ,and a few trips each year, we're just back from 4 nights in Dublin which was good and are of to Portugal next year
