Are head covers on my irons a bit poofy?

Would you use a scuffed ball for an important shot? If not why use a scuffed or battered iron to make the shot?

Like others have pointed out if you look after your equipment it will last longer and have a higher resale value.

no way would i be bothered with the hassle of covers for my irons.

+1

Very little damage to my forged clubs and that seems to be scrapes on the sole or the occasional stone whack. And they are 10 yrs old!

Wood/hybrid covers p*ss me off when they are not long enough to protect the shaft from rub marks!

I bought a set of iron covers once, but kept falling off and losing them, so have not used since. I can see why people use especially on nice forged bats which will scuff when rattling aroundin the bag.

I use them when the clubs are new, but newness wears off rapidly, and then I dont bother. May be I need to play from the fairway a bit more. Reduce the wear and tear a bit.

There golf clubs FFS !! you smash them into the ground and into mats hundreds of times every time you use them, yet worry about the air getting to them or god forbid they rattle together.
My irons are 8 years old and look like new,in fact i'm the brunt of many jokes at my club about how obsessed i am with keeping my clubs and shoes clean, but i clean them and look after them for my own piece of mind,i've never even considered there resale value.

No to headcovers. My irons get more damage from being swung at a little white ball on the ground a couple of hundred times a week, than they ever will by banging against one another. And who thinks about resale value? Buy right, buy once. I budget for a new set every 4-5 years. At that point, the difference in price will be minimal, and I wont have spent 4-5 years looking like someone with OCD. Also, I like looking at them in the bag. They're Mizzys, which means they're beautiful. And beautiful things shouldn't be hidden from view. They should be admired, stroked, spoken to in loving terms regularly.............Oh bugger, I think I have a golf club fetish...
