Anyone With Experience of Sprained Ankles?

If i got a quid for every time i had sprained my ankle i would have enough ti go on holiday.
I have done both my ankles that many times, in the mornings I walk like an ild man for the first minute or so til i have loosened up. Left ankle i had one of three ligaments snap. I had a modified bostrum repair on it.
Dont think you ankle will ever be as strong as it was

I did that thing wot Rory did to his ankle... I was back playing two weeks later... Man up & get out there!

(disclaimer: following this advice could make your handicap increase)

(warning: following this advice may also induce some weird involuntary pirouette that your PP's will laugh at as you attempt to smack that ball without putting any pressure on the ankle)

Did mine at football practice in 1981. No football for several weeks. I didn’t go to the docs/hospital. It hurts every morning, 36yrs later, till it loosens up. Make sure it’s seen to by a medic.

I would also recommend the physio route. Just because you have hurt your ankle, it may not be because your ankle is weak. I have had an ongoing issue with pulling my Achilles when running which, after a trip to the physio, turns out to be caused by weak glutes and calf muscle! This means that, when I run, the lazy muscles transfer the hard work to the Achilles which can't cope, leading to pulled muscle and pain.

Well this is quite a collection of horror stories, lol. Ok, I will have to get down A&E when I have time so they can do an x-ray and damage assessment.

I actually did go and play 18 holes 6 days after I sprained it. And I'm playing tomorrow (which will be 3 weeks after spraining it). I know it's not the best thing but when I've already been indoors every night, no football, no gym, if I stay in all weekend as well I'll go spare.

Finally went down the hospital last night - Mount Vernon minor injuries. After a one and a half hour wait I was examined by the nurse. She said it was a classic ankle sprain, nothing worse. She couldn't refer me to a physio as apparently only a GP can do that (stupid), but she said keep doing the exercises and that I can get back down the gym and do anything that doesn't make it hurt! So I'm going to go tonight and try some light rowing & cycling and see how it goes.

Dont want to poo poo your nurses diagnosis, but without an X -Ray I would not believe her. And even if you have an X-Ray that's not 100%.
Missis T fell 6" off the bottom step of step ladders. Went to A and E and had one X Ray. Nowt was found and she was told she had sprained it. A month later the pain was worse. A lot worse. Went back and had four X Ray's. It was then she was told she had broken it. Her earlier diagnosis of sprained ankle was massively wrong.
Good luck with it me man.

Well she convinced me alright. I'm just going to get on with it now and try and be patient. If it's still crap in another 4 weeks then I'll be worried.
