Anyone got news on titleist 915d

Really not sure how many times I have explained this but here goes, again... there is no 1 best driver, or putter or set of irons or wedge.

What performs best for golfer A wont perform best for golfer B... even of they have the same handicap and even swing speed

In the driver category for example it's down to getting the best model for your own personal launch characteristics that will help you achieve what you are looking to do more of be it hitting it further, narrowing your dispersion, helping getting it airborne, being able shape shots/alter trajectory

The only way you will find that out is by going through a fitting process on a variety of drivers that are suited to your launch characteristics and then also fit both your budget and your eye

In terms of our videos (call them reviews, call them gear tests, first looks, or showcases whatever you like) they set out to show new product, so to give you an in hand/at address view of what the product actually looks like, explain the key design/technology of the product and what performance benefits that might offer and suggest what type/skill level of golfer the product will best suit

We would normally be the first 'outlet' to publish a video as we usually get to see and trial the product before anyone else outside of the brand that has manufactured the product, in some cases before even some of the brand's own Tour staff.

This vid on the new Callaway V series driver is typical of what we offer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRyUUoeQh8M&list=UUHs_XdW23ArpXSfYUiscoRA&index=30

We are experimenting with video styles and have just published a vid on two of Mizuno's new irons MP15 and JPX 850s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGxitcDqYto&list=UUHs_XdW23ArpXSfYUiscoRA which is more on course style and we talk about how we test product and look at differences between models but what we don’t tell you is this model is better than this model...

Even if you look at Crossfield or Rick Sheils vid putting one driver up against another all they are showing you is which model THEY can get to perform best and that's dependent on the combo of the club's design and THEIR launch characteristics

The only categories where it’s possible to come up with 'winners' as such are trolleys and DMDs where your swing/ability as a golfer doesnt have a bearing on the performance of the product

As ever hope that shows our methodology and explains why what some folk say what they want to see, isn’t realistic to produce!

Absolutely agree with what you are saying! But you are up against the might of the OEM's Marketing machines and the desperate hope of Golfers that they can buy a game!

Excellent description of the thoroughly reasonable method (I hate seeing 'methodology', the study of method, being used that way!). It does rather kill the sort of hype of at least 1 post in the thread. However, I believe it would also be realistic to compare a new model's characteristics with those of the previous one - even if the conclusion is 'completely different!'. That way, those devotees of the brand could consider whether an upgrade was appropriate!

interesting point Foxy... although it does assume very purchaser of 915 wil be currently playing 913
we would normally talk about previous models in our videos and where relevant give a view on whether current model users will see much benefit upgrading
with 915 we did shoot some video with Neil and the two drivers last week (he's played 913 for two years) that we cant release until the official media embargo is lifted. Basic conclusion... he hits both miles!
Paul has also shot one G25/G30 as he has switched models
but for me my driver switches have gone as follows PING Anser, Cleveland Classic Custom XL, TaylorMade SLDR 430 (in between aslo tried Callawaty BB Alpha!) so it wouldnt be so relevant
anyway good to debate these things

I'd suggest putting them up against two models prior to release, i.e. 915 cf 910. I have never looked at upgrading from one release, as I don't believe there's that much difference, but two models after, and I will investigate.

I heard from a Ping rep that he doesn't recommend most people switch from G25 to G30, as they won't see much difference, but from G20 downwards, the differences are marked.

Nice looking club and you can see where it's aimed (i.e. not for the likes of me). I understand what Mike's saying too and you can only film and comment about the swing on film. It's always going to differ from golfer to golfer and so getting the right set up and shaft (custom fit) seems the way forward these days, not just on Titleist but across the board
