Anyone going on holiday this year then?

Like Graham just had a week in Kos (same flight) but unlike him, aint going anywhere else, well nothing planned anyway.

Well now you've started.

Beach was poor.
Hotel was good but wouldn't put me off any way as more than likely a different hotel.
Service in most retaurants was poor.
Found a lot of locals rude.
Far too many "looky looky" men selling goods to the point of me throwing one over a small wall onto the beach (which was poor, did I mention)
Basques (sp) setting off devices close to resort and at airport the day before we came back.
Too bustly in resort, found it hard to chill out.
When I think of more i'll add to it.

Weather was good
Also rescued a young girl that was drifting out to sea on a Lilo. I had a right pop at her parents.

I thought the beach was meant to be one of its great assets?

Nice and long and sandy yes.

However, the beach was filthy with litter, nappies, a used johnny, and general dirt.

The beach toilets were deplorable, do people not realise that the thrones are the bit you defaecate in, not the floor? They stunk to high heaven and probably hadnt been cleaned since noah built the arc.

If you go there, jump on the bus to Cap Salou for the beach, cleaner and nicer.

Thats us never ever going to Salou then. ever.

We went to Ibiza last year and had a cracking time, same hotel we went to in 2006.

Went to Rhodes in 2007 but stayed in a hotel that catered for mainly Germans, had the most horrible experience of my life. What a truly horrible race of people they are!!

I liked Ibiza. There are some cracking resorts if you keep away from the booze centres.
I like Majorca as well but again off the beaten track.
HID loves Portugal, must admit to a soft spot for it myself. Love the cuisine there.

Went to Son Bou in Menorca last year, absolutely loved it for a quiet family holiday.

My favourite place is Cyprus, Paphos specifically but when I got a price to go there this year they wanted £3200 for a week half board. Too much that.

Ibiza is ace, we stay in Port D'es Torrent which is slightly west along the coast from San Antonio Bay.

Prices this year have gone daft, we've gone DIY this year and we're saving £600 on the price Thomas Cook quoted us

I tried the DIY route one year but the wings fell off!

Went to Florida in April with the wife and kids booked it myself on the internet saved a heap of cash on Thomas Cook prices, am of to sunny Northern Ireland for a weeks golf with my mates in 2 weeks time bring on the sun and the guiness :)

Off to Algarve in June for 5 nights golf with the lads, staying in Carvoeiro, can't wait.

In August I'm off to Spain/Portugal with the other half...3 nights just outside Madrid in a place named Chinchon for the annual fiesta/running of the bulls which should be fun then get the train down to Seville for 2 nights then bus to Carvoeiro again for the the final 4 nights....should be a great trip all round.

Im off to Malaga at the end of June, and unbelievably have been given a free pass from the wife to play golf! Anyone got any advice on what's the best way to book? Go direct to golf clubs? Wait till we get there? Book in advance? Book through an agent? Any advice would be grateful!

A lot of hotels have preferential deals and often, courtesy busses to local courses. Contact your hotel before you go to find out.
