And are bricking it?

Not normally but my half shots deserted me a right while ago, I think I have them sorted but need more time to practice. I hit two demi-shanks last week but were from horrid lies and I didn't lose any sleep over them.
I finish at 1 on Fridays so think I shall be heading to the practice hole tootsweet tomorrow.

Our club championships are the pinnacle of the year and are this Sunday in the format of a 36 hole net and scratch comp. Net is for the top 32 qualifiers in the monthly medals (best 4 medal cards out of the possible 6) and scratch is open to those with a handicap of 8 or less.
I qualified 8th from around 400-500 weekend players in the net so am chuffed with that, the scratch part, well I might as well be playing to 20 for the chance I have of winning that but still looking forward to the weekend.

So, who else and in what format, do they fancy their chances?

Hope the weather is good for you and you can find your game for it. Looks like being a tough day with that standard of competition.

Bit late in the year is it not ? We have ours in June and the Final played last Sunday in June. Weather is better and course is usually in great condition then.

Our scratch championship is on Sunday. I am in Northern Ireland on holiday, so am spared the embarassment of it all. I will also avoid getting another 0.2 back. Win, win.

DCB, our course is in good nick, probably get tined in a couple of weeks once the last of the qualifiers are done. We have our own trench and drainage making equipment so the course has come on in leaps and bounds this past two years where it would have been wet from October to late March is now very playable, especially the fairways.

Murph, every cloud and all that!

Cheers Ken, as long as it doesnt rain too much, I will enjoy it, cant help feeling a bit anxious about the half swingers though :D Stupid thing is that I am still scoring pretty well, I would love a week or two of decent approaches as the confidence would be back and the scores would be bloody good too.

Bangor is a lovely track ive played it many a time. I used to be a member of Carnalea so would play bangor during Bangor Golf Week. Managed to win one of the comps one year as well.

I might take a few pics and throw them into the pics section, course is looking well at the moment...well it was last weekend before the remnants of the hurricane came through.

Its our club championship this weekend however I am not playing in it. Im playing very early Saturday morning before it all starts.

Championship Course meeting at Royal Liverpool... all 7218 yards of it.
Combined with a forecast of heavy showers, a 23mph wind and a 456 mile round trip to play in it I feel 0.1 coming back my way

It's our club championship this weekend too. Its a 36 hole scratch medal on Saturday.

It's my first one at my club and I'm really looking forward to it. I actually am going into it in good form having won my second swindle in a row this morning scoring 37 points off a 3 handicap (lost a shot for winning last week) but unfortunatly I have a bit of a block when it comes to medals. For some reason I just can't avoid putting 1 or 2 big numbers on the card... I think it's because I get a bit too cautious in my play and stop being aggressive to my target (like Rory always says...) I start just trying to "not hit it in the trees" as opposed to just aiming at a spot in the fairway and firing right at it.

Shot 85-80 in my first 36 hole scratch medal at the club a couple of months ago after taking a 9 on the second hole of my first round... I'm putting better than I ever have in my life though(thanks to Bobs tip in the Westwood thread) and am striking the ball well though so I think the time is now for me to break the spell of playing crap in medals and put in a good showing!

Better than any day in the office Mike, good luck, some of them are bound to be down wind at least! haha.

EZ, similar here, I have ruined half a dozen rounds this year with a couple of doubles or a treble chucked in.
Good luck to all regardless, maybe its our year. :)

Not got anything exciting left at my home club except the greensomes on the 22nd with Hawkeye. I can see us using his drives and me just getting it in the vicinity of the green so he can use his dynamite short game and I can knock the messy 3-4 footers in. Easy game

Bit of a disappointment really, shot a 79 net 71 in the first 18 (2 over after 9), played badly but scrambled like a pro bar a 7 with an unplayable lie. Second 18 was difficult as the wind got up even more, limped back with an 85 net 77. Just missed out on a podium by 2 shots for the overall and beaten on the back nine for the morning round too. The positive to take away is just how badly I played and still ended in the upper half of the table. Roll on next year!

Ours are in June - 72 holes played over two weekends
They form the qualifiers for 4 knockout comps so need to be played in the middle of our season - April to September

We have 11 months of winter and then we wait for it to start again!!!!

You did better than me mate. I shot 81-85 to continue my run of terrible form in medals.

I actually played no where near as badly as my scores suggest but it was just one of those days where everything that could go wrong did... Horrendous bounces and lies all day, a freak lost ball just off the fairway on the 3rd hole of the day, 2 missed tap ins (like actual tap ins I'm talking <2 feet...), the flag stopping a slow rolling chip from going in the middle of the hole and the wind actually seemed to be toying with me with the way it kept dying/arriving as I hit my shot... I was also hitting great putts that were just burning the edges and not dropping all day...

On the second round I started really well birdieing the 1st and was -1 standing on the tee of our par 5 7th. Pushed my tee shot down the right side of the fairway, took the most horrendous bounce you've ever seen straight right into the trees. Never found it so I walked over to my provisional which was in the rough, and as I placed my club behind the ball I mistakingly flicked it with my wrist and moved the ball a few inches forward guy I was playing with didn't see it so called the penalty on myself, missed my 4 footer to save double and walked off with an 8. Parred the 8th, birdied the 9th and finished the round +16 over par.... You do the maths...

Can't blame it all on bad luck though as I did play badly. I made way to many horrible, horrible mistakes both with my shot selection and execution. I had 6 birdies overall but I also had two 8's, three 7's and more than a handful of doubles...

So I didn't break my record of poor form in medals this time but I'm hoping that I break the spell soon to release the curse so that I can start enjoying medals and playing good golf in them!
