Anyone beat this bunker lie?

My approach (3rd) to one of our par 5's strayed a touch left and ended up in a green side bunker. I have never seen before what greeted me when I arrived, (I thought it looked a bit like a Ferrero Rocher). There was much hilarity from my very understanding playing partners :mmm:

Anyone had worse?

Royal co. Down...needless to say Steve (Smange) didn't manage par.
Awful lie with everything going against the next shot.

What is the ball in? Doesn't look like sand but something artificial

It's quite course, our sand - but there had been a puddle in the bunker from the early morning watering and that had almost dried out, leaving a sort of wet clay. I first got a nice layer of sticky clay stuff, then some sprinkles of sand. Don't ask me about the sand, it's an ongoing discussion (argument) at our club. It can get very windy, so fine sand just blows away...

Love the look on Smange ha ha ..

Pic doesn't actually do it justice as to how bad it actually was......the edges of the bunkers at RCD actually overhang into the bunkers and my ball was right underneath the overhang, couldn't hit the ball from any direction other than what would have been straight into the overhang so had to take an unplayable 😩

Love those bunkers though and indeed the whole golf course

Joking aside, was it in a comp. if not did you clean it. I don't think I would of played it like that in a knock about.

It wasn't in a comp, but I did up and down it. It came out OK and rolled to within a meter with most of the gunk still attached. I was very lucky :)

Not as good as the OP ball, but wasn't too happy with the lie in this bunker at Wimeraux a couple of years back, not exactly casual water!

That was pretty much the only available sand to drop it in too, but didn't really want to touch the ball lying in that toxic waste

Do you play different rules in a bounce game ?

If it is a knock about with the lads yes. If it's near a tree stump why risk damage to yourself or clubs. If you have played a shot and was not sure of which club to use, drop a ball and try another. You may be in the same place when in a comp. re above ball. Yup I would tell a PP to clean it after I had wet me pants laughing.

What even is that?! How long has that bunker sat with that water in it for that to grow? Looks absolutely horrendous! You are lucky it was just on the edge
