Any plans or changes ?

My plan other than a few swing tweaks is more short game practice and more meaningful practice from 150 yards and in.

This will of course depend on how next Saturday goes and whether I rejoin my club, although given the circumstances I'm hoping the club may do a rolling month contract if need be!

Same approach as last year - go out and enjoy myself and try and play as many courses as I can

So with the new season fast approaching even on the wet courses , they will be dry and you will be golfing soon ,
has anyone planned to do anything different than last or previous years ?

At the start of the season last year i got too hung up on lowering my handicap , ok lowering the handicap is a good thing but i think the fact i go so hung up on it , it had the opposite effect , i tried lessons last year for the first time , not for me , too much going on in the head standing over the ball ..

So this year i hope to approach the season with a fresh mind , safe in the knowledge i can birdie any hole on the course i plan on playing each round hole by hole , the back 9 and closing holes will be played the same whether i turn under or over par ..

if i have a good score going late on im not going to kick into safe , lets not make mistake mode , its going to be i played well to be in this position im going to keep playing the same way ..

Is there anything different about the way you plan to approach your golf this year ?

Very similar to yourself Bill.....
This year with me its a case of embracing the fade i have and doing what i know i can do rather than what i think i should be doing.....
Allow for the left to right ball flight knuckling down with my wedges and putter..... Im not going to worry about missing greens because im going to have a lethal short game...

Stay totally focused on my own game and take each shot as it comes and not to get ahead of myself...

I spent the whole of last season battling to try and change a swingpath which iv achieved but couldnt manage the draw so its onwards and upwards from here on with plenty of enjoyment and a care free mentality when on the course..

Hopefully after all that the handicap will take care of itself..

Definitely hit more fairways for me. The one area of my game that lets me down.

I could have written this.....

Joined a new club and wild off the tee isn't an option.....

Also, as I've joined a new club, try and play a load of comps and midweek golf to meet people there.

If I finish the year off less than 9 I'll be doing well :(

Just gona let the golf flow, just go out and accept wat happens each round and let it take care of it's self. I know I can play well I've shown it before and I can do it again. The driver has started to be more consistent and I'm hitting fairways more often now so it should come in no time. Need to work on the short game a bit. But other than that just play as much as I can.

Will be my first full season so want to see my handicap come down but I'm not setting myself a target of how much am just going to go with the flow. Also want new irons but it's when the Pro will let me have any as he's a perfectionist. Fitting Part 4 is next week but I'm not holding my breath for then!

Over the last couple of years I've been guilty of playing but not practicing. It's an easy trap to get into because if I get a couple of hours spare I'd rather do 9 holes than whack a couple of buckets of balls.

This year my wife wants to get into golf so the benefit of it will be that we'll spend time down the range which I sorely need. The downside is that come the weekend I can see me taking the last tee time and playing some very slow rounds of golf trying to convince my wife that we all started like that and that she shouldn't be upset by not finishing before it gets dark :fore:

Is it yourself that has joined Fairhaven? If so you are blessed to be a member there as it is a lovely course. Played there a while back and it beat me up something rotten. As you say fairways are deffo required on there

aA course of lessons with our pro-Scott and lots of practise to bed in a more upright swing(and get used to the new irons with them being shorter and flatter than all my previous sticks)
This is the year-now is the time!(does that sound good /or just crap?)

I've been fortunate that the course has been open up to now so I've played more golf thru this winter period then I ever have. Got a new coach and the slight changes are working plus all clubs are set up how I like. Already had a round where I've had 7 birdies and being 6 under after 10, but wheels fell right off after a dopey thought came into my mind on the tee and hit a double then a big slide. Hence Golf 54 is the main focus right now.

Yep, recently joined and already wishing I'd done it sooner.

Lovely course and club, like you say avoiding the rough and bunkers is almost a minimum requirement and not my strongest suit!!
