Another Lucky Thread

It hits one of the 3" wide struts right in the middle.

Yeh, but not the one I was aiming for..... I was trying for the one next to it! ;)

The only reason that shot was lucky is that no-one was sitting on that bench, it've killed 'em! :)

Well, the best i've ever witnessed was a couple of years ago when I was in my old golf society and we were playing at High Throston in Hartlepool.

There was 3 in my group and the guy who did this had only been playing golf for 2-3 weeks.

The 2nd tee at Throston is elevated from the 1st green up a bank, the guy put his ball down and pulled his driver out, he sliced & topped his shot, it flew forward about 3 inches off the ground, struck a massive stone that had the hole information on for the ladies tee, shot up in the air going backwards, pitched off the bank towards the 1st hole, landed on the green and rolled towards the hole, when the ball got to the hole it was like Tigers at Augusta on the 16th, it stopped briefly, gave us a wave & dropped in!!!!

I have never ever EVER laughed so much as I did then :D

Ray Taylor, a good mate of mine, is the king of the "lucky" shot. I've seen him get away with a lot of things on a golf course, but the luckiest shot I have ever seen him play was at Royal Cinque Ports a few years ago....

We were playing 36 holes and had a friendly competition going on during the day, tenner each in the kitty and the winner was on to pick up about £50.00 or so.
Ray had been leading by two or three points all day when we got to the 14th hole in the afternoon. Par 3, over 200 yards long and playing quite tough. He initially played a 5 wood and hit the most awful pull I have ever seen in my life. Into the cabbage and gone forever.
He then took another ball out of his bag, put his wood away and decided to hit a 4 iron "for safety"...he thinned the ball so badly, it must have hurt his hand. Ball never got more than about 5 feet off the deck, hit the front of the massive green and rolled, and rolled, and rolled into the cup for a 3. And he got a bloody shot on the hole. If anyone deserved a blob it was him, but he walked away with 3 points and held on to win the money.

How many were playing? :D

12 of us I think Bob. We had £50.00 first prize, £30.00 second and £20.00 third with a tenner nearest the pin and longest drive
