For the last week each time I attempt to log into Facebook or E-bay I keeo getting a pop-up 'Manage Add-ons'.

don't think I have downloaded anything lately, I have Google as a default search engine and use a google search bar,

any suggestions to how i can stop this pop-up

Not strictly the correct answer R3

An Add On is basically a small bit of software that allows a program to integrate with Internet Explorer

So Your anti Virus will have an add on which would be useful
Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash and Java add ons are also OK

Open IE, click Tools, manage add ons.

You can choose which ones to enable or disable, if you are not sure shout back or use Google

BTW Robert, how are your Graphics card drivers now?

Fragger

Graphics card working a lot better than before you helped,

as for the add ons I'm lost, i have disabled all but the google taskbar but apart from the home page when i first go online i get the manage add-ons option

as previous this has only been happening for a week or two

Might be worth trying to reset internet explorer

open IE
Tools, Internet options, advanced,. reset

follow it through, you may have to revisit the addons management bit to take out those that you dont want

shout back if still a problem

still having the same problems.

when i first click IE my homepage comes up and displays as normal, when i go favourites and click either facebook or e-bay the 'manage addons box appears.

no problems on the desktop or new laptop, just this one

how about deleting the facebook and ebay shortcuts from faves, then recreating them

when the add on box comes up, what option are you clicking on?

Just saw this... if you have an add on, some of them may not work or be incompatible when you update IE. The new IE 9 generally shows 'Manage add on' as this is its way of trying to give peeps the option to speed things up. You can safely ignore it or as you did enable everything.
In my case, some of my add-ons are no longer supported, so have disabled them. No impact on performance or security for me.
