I recently made and am now drinking some very quaffable home made wine. :p
At £18 for 30 bottles I thought I'd make some more.
Unfortunately, something didn't work quite as it should so a search on this interweb thing brought me to a wine forum where there was a section on wine making problems. :)
I quick post and a prompt reply from Fermenting Tom had my problem fixed in a jiffy.
I also found loads of recipes for future attempts which might include Turbo cider which sounds intriguing.
Does anyone else here brew their own?

Does anyone else here brew their own?

Sure do Bob :)

Always got a 40pt barrel of beer ready and make real wine from imported, named variety, grape juice. Very drinkable.

Once you have got the gear (not expensive), beer works out at about 50p per pint, good quality quaffing wine at about £1.70 per bottle and top notch for the Sunday roast at between £2.00 and £2.30.

Years ago I used to make "country" wines but they took so long to be ready for drinking that I changed to the decent wine kits.

Anyone want further info ??

used to brew both beer and wine but at todays supermarket prices, not really worth the wait anymore except for the satisfaction of doing it.

A bloke that used to work for me makes his own "baileys", "malibou", "Advocaat", plum brandy etc...

Bloody good stuff. I'll see if I can dig out his number and tap a couple of bottles from him.

Used to brew a beer that I left a few weeks longer than supposed to and it came out 3 times stronger. You could almost stand a spoon up in it!

All homebrew is bogging...fact.

People who make it delude themselves into believing the stuff tastes good because it's cheap and there's some sense of achievement in making it, when in actual fact it doesn't taste good, quite the opposite. If you just want to get rat arsed fair enough but if you're looking for a tasty tipple forget homebrewed wine or beer.

I made a batch of birch wine a few years back, cripes it was awful.

As Vig says with supermarket prices so cheap, why bother.

Leave it to the experts gents.
