I phoned the pro at Highwoods the other day to find out if I could have my new Callys custom fitted.
He told me that it was a very difficult thing to do and that I should have had them custom made when I ordered them.
Never having had a set fitted before, is he right or is he just saying he doesn't want to do it?
Sorry if this has been asked before....

Most good pros should be able to offer a basic custom fitting service in terms of loft and lie, grip thickness and maybe advice on shafts if technology like a launch monitor isn't available.

My advice would probably be to go to a recognised Cally fitter or direct to their HQ in Chessington. It seems your pro is being a tad lazy.

the problem you got here is that most callaway clubs are CAST and not Forged! the Forged clubs can be bent up to 4 degress upright or flat depending where as cast clubs can only be bent up to a degree or so and wheen they are bent they become very weak! therefore when you get fitted for cast clubs they normally change the head on the shaft rather then bend the one already on it1

hope this helps mate

Thanks very much for your replies. Much appreciated.
I'll leave it for now, see how I get on with them. I've never had a set fitted before and have always got on reasonably well with "off the peg" clubs in the past.
I've only played one game with them and seemed to be hitting them OK but you never know if you're missing out on something "extra" 'til you try do you?
MVP..your post in particular was very helpful and informative.
Thanks
Rob

Most cast clubs can only be rebent once. Well more correctly manufacturers don't like doing it more than once & I can understnd your Pro's hezitance in attempting the job himself, as I'm sure he wouldn't want to be replacing a club because he broke a head he was adjusting. Its really a job left upto Callaway themselves to make the adjustments. Though There is nothing stopping you asking your pro to check & see if adjustments are needed & any decent pro would have checked lie angles before selling you clubs off the peg. btw you are going to incure a charge for this to be done post sale & maybe another reason for your pro's reluctance. No point in adding costs where they were avoidable.
