Played a qualifier today and played really well. Css was five over so conditions were rough (very windy) came in two under hcp to finish second to a 23 hcp player whose net was the same as mine but lost on countback. How is a countback calculated?
Did get a shiny new hcp though!

Thanks, am rather pleased with the result and new hcp - half way to goal for the season! Guess my back nine was not quite good enough!
So is medal net? I take it its attached to the stroke index?

Medals are done nett and each person takes their gross score for that 9 and takes off half of their h/c to give you a nett score for that 9 holes. If still level then you do the same for the last 6 , then 3 ,2 and 1.

A gross/scratch comp doesnt involve h/c's so this point would be irrelevant and you just take the scores as read. Although usually in this format a playoff is required.
