Just for a bit of fun I thought I'd flip the question for the upcoming EU Referendum.

What I want to know is, if we were not members of the EU would you vote to join?

If we can keep the main discussions on the other thread. This one is just for a bit of fun.

It's a tricky one. Would I agree to loss of our self governance, interference from overseas in all walks of life, rampant uncontrolled immigration and pay billions of pounds a year for the privilege? All things considered, i'd probably decline the opportunity.

I had this conversation with a friend the other day who is in the Leave camp (I am in Remain.) He couldn't fathom how I wouldn't choose to join, if presented with the above question, yet I won't vote to Leave!

What makes this question so difficult is that we do not know our relationship with the EU as it hypothetically stands. Do we have free trade with them now? Do we have tariffs? Do we pay a huge wedge to them for the privelege of free trade? Pretty much the questions we are asking ourselves now. If, in this hypothetical world, we had free trade with the EU, then I would not vote to join and pick up the rest of the baggage. As we don't know I sat on the fence.
