American Golf...

I have to say AG fitting, is it really fitting. Your options for shafts are very limited, so i my case, the only shaft that really worked for me was Scandium E21 in my irons and my wedges. Now AG don't have access to shafts like this, and the big companies won't allow you to put certain shafts in the heads. So will you really get what works for you, or will you get sold anything just because its a sale. So AG is ok up to a certain point, if you know what works for you, and that is it. All the above is just my opinion :D

Thats quite some sig you've put together, you must be some player.

I like AG, good range of gear, well laid out, always able to try what they have, although agree with Oddsocks, that to get a viable comparison , you need to be hitting against your current club,

Im enough of a cynic not to be swayed by salesmen of any kind, so would rather judge by the feel of the strike and the figures on the screen.

Im off to slough later to have a play with the I20 irons and Cobra Amp irons against my G15s

So basically anyone that could not fit you for the Scandium shafts was not performing a fitting (pretty sure thats a very limited set of fits) and if you find another shaft that performs better in the future then this one wasn't a fitting either. How do you know that another shaft isn't even better for you, but just isn't available from your fitter?

Basically fitting is very dependant on where you go, it is diminished or improved based on the amount of variables available, but a simpler fitting of shaft type, shaft length or loft, lie does not mean its not worth having. I'm sure the guys that went to the PlayYourBest challenge at Ping would consider that they had a very very good fitting and yet they probably didn't do an awful lot more than choose a shaft from the standard set of available ones in Ping products.

I agree with this 100%, even Mizuno with their DNA only stock a few manufacturers iron shafts (True Temper, Royal Precision, KBS & Nippon) and you get the best fit from them.

Also, I went to Titlesit and they had a large range of Driver Shafts, but not every shaft on the planet. I think its a little unfair so say it isnt a proper fitting

I like my local AG (Newbury, well Thatcham) guys in there all play, he manager is a very very good golfer and happens to be mates with my neighbour, but even when he is not there, I get good service. Bought my putter from there pressure free and was given some sound advice, I wanted a 2ball type one, but the lad helping said straight away it was no good for and to try the one I bought!
