Had a lesson yesterday and as a result, I've agreed to a grip change and weaken the left hand. Boy o boy o boy! How alien does it feel coming out of your comfort zone and changing something which has been "natural" too me for about 20 years!!!

I went to the practice area today and hit some absolute beauties, some were crap and I threw in six J Arthurs as well! Despite the horrors there is light at the end of the tunnel. More work and dedication required to hopefully rid me of the destructive snap hook which can creep in when my timing is off. I guess its just a case or practice, practice, practice until it starts to feel more natural and comfortable.

Anyone else making a big change ahead of the season starting???

:fore:

also a grip change, but weakening the left hand- taking ages to feel normal.

also takeaway more inside, I thought I was inside but pro said I was outside the line

also straighter left arm

also holding the 'set' position as long as possible.

lastly better hip turn and not tilt on the backswing

seems a lot but with practice they all become second nature very quickly.

I am determined to get numerous sub 70 competitive rounds this year, Ping and GM's #playyourbest has cemented that goal irrespective of whether chosen or not

Working on getting more width on my back swing as i come inside ,and a higher follow thru and trying to roll my hands more to get my draw back

Yep lessons for me also. I'm changing the takeaway, mine is too inside the line leading to a lowish draw, it also is v ery alien to me as I have been swinging this way for years. Practice helps but I do not like the range so I'm hoping to start on the practice ground when we get lighter nights.

Winter project has been to tighten my top of backwing position as my left elbow collapses and results in an overswing. Also on improving my impact position as it's neutral at best and can be a bit flippy. Since the snow I've had two 1 hour lessons and been to the range every day. It's coming along a treat but as expected/feared less so on the course. My best shots are heaps better in shape, trajectory and distance but not consistent enough. Today I decided to play in the trust mode and not cloud my mind with technical thoughts and it was a lot better. I was also a bit kinder on myself and didn't bemoan my uselessness much at all!

Yikes!

5 changes all at once really is a challenge! Though some could be connected.

Not started the downswing yet either! ;) Still holding that Set position? :mmm:

Good Luck

Being fresh back to golf after a 4 year lay off. Building a whole swing from the ground up. Hopefully it will be ready for the new season, fingers crossed.

Lost a lot of distance recently, had a lesson and it appears i'm not getting my hands ahead of the club at impact. Sounds simple enough to rectify, but i'm struggling to make it happen, but i'll keep plugging away, but in the meantime i'm just clubbing up a bit.

Off hand, I can't think of any thing swing related I'm not changing. Now into changing back swing, and introducing some weight shift. Can't say it is going well.

For the first time in quite a few years I'n not trying to do anything new with my swing. I've realised that as someone with a morbid fear of anorexia I'll never have the smooth flowing graceful swing of these tall athletic types. I'll stick with my flat three quarter swing this year and see how it goes. Initial signs are encouraging though ;)

Yeh, shanking way too much last season due to my life long flat swing. When I was flushing it, it was really good, but shanking destroys your game......and your heed.

So.....back end of last season I went to see Derek Small at castle park golf club, known him for years and he is the dogs nads and an ex touring pro. No technical stuff, he knows my swing inside out, and like the craw, he had me hitting some great shots but I was slipping back to the flat swing.

So, I’ve been swinging an old club near a plaster board wall. At first I was striking the wall all the time, now I’m moving back as my swing gets more upright.

Don’t know if it will transfer to the course, fingers crossed, I’ve not shanked a ball for a good while and when I hit it right it flies much higher with more carry.

Took it to the Dunbar medal a couple of weeks back and considering I had a double and a treble in a round of 81shots, that was off the full length course, it wasn't too bad.

Gone to a one plane swing but need to get the clubhead to come in much steeper. Way too shallow and getting trapped inside. Finding it all harder to bed in than I hoped. The good ones are now much better but finding it hard to take the good work from the range to the course. Need to eradicate a killer hip slide and turn them more (imagine a baseball player hitting a shot and the way they clear their hips) which I'm told will give me the room to compress the ball more

Can't say, in all honesty, that I've conciously tried to change anything for years apart from fighting a tendancy to sway right on the backswing.
I've fiddled a little with grip and ball position but not actaully made "changes".

Does this make me wierd...?:mmm:
