so I concentrated on approaches from 180, 150 and 100, bunkers, chips around the greens and par 3 tee shots (my nemesis)

I put 4 out of 5 on the green on 1 par 3, only 133 yards but 9 iron off the deck worked a treat. 169 par 3 5 iron put 2 on the fringe, 1 on green and 2 in bunker... for me thats bloody good.

going back up there tomorrow. I was the only one on the course for quite a while and was able to just pick and choose holes.

Dont worry old gits, I will still be pants come Saturday. It beats any range practice hands down though!!!

I also did this for the first time today ! It's a must when I have a day off in the week now as you say much more productive than the range ! Your Practice seemed a lot more successful than mine haha ! :fore:

there was plenty of shockers trust me but I found being able to experiment a little with ball position, different clubs, lies etc just made such a big difference as I was able to see mistakes via the shot shape/distance and so forth

I will need to go and do it when its windy now cos boy do these G10's get up in the air :)

Likewise fella, I went to a short game evening just over a month ago where my pro teamed up with another pro and did a presentation on how to practise your short game. The next day I spent 3 hours out on the practise ground in the rain going through everything I had learnt the night before hitting ball after ball after ball.....I got drenched! Boy was it worth it though, my short game has been excellent of late. Just goes to show practise does actually help!

Good to hear G1BB0! I find being out on the course a lot more productive than the range - lot's more variety and you'll get some excellent experience of what works and what doesn't. Went to the range on my lunch break today and was crushing most shots. Felt very nice and relaxed. Here's hoping the weekend sees more of the same!

The last 2 times I nipped over to practice the short game on our wee course, the first tee was free and I ended up squeezing as many holes in as i could.

I paid the price, short game was crap at the weekend. So next chance I get I am going back to find it :)

Spent two hours cipping. Nothing like Sunday and a step back again. Hate it when you think you've cracked something and it goes AWOL the very next time out. Might go and play a few holes tomorrow regardless of the weather and see if I can "just do it" on the course
