Advantages of push trolleys?

Thanks for all the replies.

Would seem a push does have clear advantages over a pull (it's OK JO, it's not a ball flight thread :D)

Tempted by a push trolley rather than electric both for budget reasons and because golf is my only exercise so don't mind burning a few extra calories. Also feel there is less hassle setting up and less to go wrong. I like to keep my golf simple. My course is not hilly so should be OK. I think a leccy trolley will come in time but I still feel too young at 52. ;) If I could I'd rather carry!

Loooked at clic-gear and Stewart on the web and they are nice looking but a fair bit more than the S3 lite which seems to tick all the boxes and our pro is a Motocaddy dealer.

Going to keep thinking through the oprions though and thanks again for all the advice.

I think it depends what sort of course you play on, if it's hilly I definitely wouldn't recommend a push trolley. Try pushing a trolley up a hill and you end up walking at 45 degrees. Best thing I ever did was sell mine and get an electric one.

Agreed, I got a bad back from a push trolley on a hilly course, no issues with a pull one though.

Hills they are the bane of my bad back , your better off carrying or pulling though if its really hilly as pushing a trolley up hills hurts my back more than either . apart from that push all the way

I've seen a few of these push trolleys and they seem very easy to push.
Some of them even have little net baskets where you can keep your shopping. ;)

Better a push I'd say than posing behind a remote control electric waggon. I'm thinking of moving from pull to push as my back (as well as my game) is a bit iffy.

Push trolleys are definitely less stressful for backs. Certainly the view of my Chiropractor when she sorted my back out - in 2002.

Most push trolleys can actually be pulled up hills.

I'm a 25 year old reasonably fit bloke who has always frowned upon young people having trolleys and always been a carry stalwart, but I must admit I fancy a premium push trolley (no battery) and a nice big tour bag. Lads at the GC reckon carrying definetly leaves you at a disadvatnage over 18 holes with regards to fatigue? Do we agree?

Dont agree.
If you are 25 and reasonably fit then you should be able to amble round 18 holes carrying your bag without any disadvantage whatsoever.
If however, you're older like Smiffy, then get a trolley.

I'm nearly 60 and prefer to carry! Simpler to negotiate my way around the course - even up hills. As long as it's not unduly heavy!

Tour bag...I'd prefer a readio controlled battery trolley. I could never get the speed quite right on manual ones!

I much prefer to carry - feeling close to my clubs - sounds a bit weird but if you know what I mean you'll understand. And can't be botehred with restrictions about where I can walk when using my simple pull trolley. But age is telling and having suffered a seriously bad attack of sciatica a few years ago I am very wary of putting strain on my lower back. Still not keenon seeing young lad trundling around with huge powered trolleys.

Well, picked up my Motocaddy S3 Lite yesterday from the pro shop.

Really nice bit of kit. Solidly built and easy to fold and unfold.

Used it for the first trime today and you guys were right, it is much much better than a pull trolley.

Still didn't stop me shooting 51 on the back 9 when the wind and rain set in after going out in 40. Finished with a 9! :o

Think if summer goes on like this I may need to get the umbrella holder! :(

Thanks again to everyone for all the advice.
