My fave open course so far - but thats only cos Ailsa bit my bum

certainly didnt play to handicap - but knew I wouldn't. Bunkers didnt scare me - well cept the Spectacles but i was a big woose and played round them ;) It was the rough that got me - very hard to get my ball out

Lot of snowmen on the card - but I dont care! I'll take my 0.1.

Had a great day in the sun with two lovely ladies playing a fabulous course

cant wait to go back next year and reduce the score on the door!

;)

Heidi, if your good in bunkers then rough shouldnt be an issue for you, play it a bit like a bunker shot, face well open, pick up steeply then steep down and the ball should pop out, just hold on firmer as the face will turn as the grass wraps around the shaft.....
never played Carnoustie:(

aha - face wasnt open - did the rest tho...hmmmm...need to get myself some rough and try again

actually to tell the truth - if i didnt have a stupid out to in swing and a massive slice then i wouldnt have been in the guff at all

i fixed it after a couple of holes - then it snuck back in to my game again on the 14th...grrrrrr

It's obvious you haven't played Carnoustie if you think it's as easy as that to get out of the rough there.

So jealous. Would love to play there just once
Do it homer! I thought it was a very 'playable' course - unlike the Ailsa where i was driver, 3 wood, 3 wood and another 3 wood and still not on the green on the par 5s

check out deals for the hotel and treat Marge to a weekend away! ;)

Up there in my 3 favourites. Shot 99, 83 and 76 the 3 times I've played it.

2nd hole is one of my all time favourites and there are no 'weak' ones.

Best value way to play Carnoustie is to enter the Tassie. I played in it last year, cost £190 and I had 3 rounds each on the big course and the Burnside. It is held every September, entries open in January and it fills up in a couple of minutes so you have to be extremely quick!

clive, its as easy as that to get out of any rough anywhere! first rule of in the rough is get it out, I'm not saying you'll hit it 200yds or even be exactly where you want it but if its golf course rough it will come out 99 times out of 100

Still currently my favourite course over Turnberry, St. mellion, Formby, Royal Liverpool and Lytham.

From memory played the front 9 in 3 over, single bogied 10-17.

Stepped onto the 18th thinking if only I could par this. Put it in the barry burn (right), thought that's that gone then.

Hit a 220 yard rescue would at the clock (couldn't see the green from my drop), the best ever I've hit. Got up there 10 foot from the hole, sank the putt for a par. Happiest feeling on one particular hole still.

Whenever I see jean van der velde on the telly, I get an inner glow.

The finishing 4-5 holes are very testing, Spectacles goes on for ever, the one after it (from memory) is also long. Humungous par 3 , then the two barry burn holes.

Glad you loved it also.
