Lads and Lasses, I am looking to buy an adjustable driver and want to know everyones opinion on which they think are best? I am planning on trying as many out as I can and picking the one with the best results, but just want an idea from you guys beforehand.

Thanks in advance.

You could do a lot worse than the Titleist 910 due to the shaft options available off the shelf along with it being adjustable.

Try as many as you can.

What are you looking to get from the driver? In my opinion, adjustibility is either a waste of money or too confusing for many golfers, and there is likely to be a standard driver out there that will give you what you need.

I have always had a stiff shaft driver, but recently have come to the conclusion that my swing is not quick enough. The reason for adjustability, is to have the option should I want it to swap a reg or stiff shaft in and out if required.

What is the difference between D2 and D3? Sorry I could probably find this elsewhere but being a bit lazy.

erm...yes

Head shape is different. Find a driver and shaft combo you like and buy that. You'll find most who buy an adjustable driver tweak it once or twice to start- just to see what happens- then leave it at 1 setting for the rest of its natural life.

Swapping shafts is the biggest advantage I can see but if you get it right at the beginning you wont need to

Yeh, Have to agree with D V, Just gone to a Reg shaft i15 after using Stiff for years, made a huge difference, You dont need a adjustable Driver, just one that is right for you, Go out and try as many as you can , Good luck with it !!

If it is only the shafts you are bothered about, why not check out the Callaway I-Mix series, loads available on ebay for £50 +.These will let you use many shaft options without worrying about the complexities of an adjustable head.

I have the 910 D2 and it's a great driver, more forgiving than the D3 it's more of a point and shoot driver, the D3 is 440cc the D2 460cc.You have to get the right shaft though, the adjustability is great once you find the right combo, mine is standard loft 1 degree open as that kind of counteracts my bad shot left,I have not touched it since, and I think that's the way to go.With a standard driver you would not get the option to set it open or closed.

I have a 910D2, and I think the adjustability is great, not that I've messed with it much.

I bought it just over 18 months ago and my swing has changed quite a bit since then. Back then I hit a very low ball with my driver and consequently had it set to +1.5° and neutral, making it a 12° driver.

Over the next year or so I learned to hit it higher naturally, so put it back to standard, making it a 10.5° driver.

Yesterday I was on a launch monitor and the pro noticed that although the flight wasn't much higher than ideal, the spin was too high and it looked like I was coming in flatter than the club wanted, so we adjusted it down to 9.75° and half a degree open which has the effect of making the lie flatter.

Totally agree with this.

Just adds confusion. If you hook a drive then you will blame the club if it is set up for a draw. So you give it a tweak and then next time out hit two slices.

I would never buy one. If I hit an unintended hook or slice then I want to know that it is down to my swing and not some recent tweak of the club.

I think they are a gimmick that for most, will waste time and money for no tangible benefit.

I don't fully understand this post, why wouldn't you get fitted to what you need. In the long run it will be more beneficial to your game. I have always used a 3 wood as i couldn't hit a driver. I have just been fitted for a driver, and i am now seeing the difference. It might not be the way some people choose, but it worked for me....Best of luck in your search fella.

i like the titleist 910

reason i went for an adjustable driver is not so i can fiddle about with it every month but to set it up how i like it.

Lots of drivers these days seem to set up with a slightly closed face which i cant stand, going for an adjustable driver i knew i could set it up with a slightly open face.

also adjustable drivers seem to come with loads of shaft options to, there must be nearly 100 different options in the titliest, flex, weight, model, manufacturer etc so if you go to a fitter you should get a pretty could match

I recently bought the titleist 910 d2 and really like it. Previously had the ping g15 and just couldn't get on with it.

The adjustable part has been a little bit of trial and error for me as I bought the driver 2nd hand. I think I've nailed down my setting but at some stage i'm going to have to get properly fitted with it.

I easily could have bought a non adjustable driver. i just set a budget and tried as many as I could.

I agree that getting fitted for the right shaft is critical, but I am not so sure that swapping out different flex shafts is such a great benefit. You can have the shaft changed in any club, although admittedly you can't just do it yourself. But wouldn't it be better to just get properly fitted in the first place?

PS. The adjustable driver I am look for is one where I can adjust the flight when the ball is in the air. Haven't found it yet.

i have an ajustable driver and i don't think I've ever even touched the weights!

Mine is the Mizuno MP630 ft. it does though allow you to change the ball flight slightly.

if i wanted too i could move the weights back for a higher flight.

I got mine simply for the fact i liked the head shape and slightly smaller head which i can hit off the deck if needed.

Thanks for the advice guys. Whilst I'm heading towards adjustable, it's not the be-all and end-all. If there is a driver that performs well and feels right and isn't adjustable I will more than likely go for that.

I just wanted an idea of which ones are adjustable, and what people thought of them.

I bought a Taylormade R11, did so on the premis that as my swing changed I could adapt the driver in accordance.

However, over the year or so I've owned it I've realised that no matter how much adjustability it has, it is not a miracle cure for my slice.

My swing has now changed through lessons and I have learned that my swing style will be one that plays with a fade.

So, I'm now at the point where the adjustibility of the R11 is pretty much redundant, it's not going to change and I'm now thinking about trading the R11 in for a fixed driver.

The adjustible drivers I now think are just a good marketing gimick, my mate has a Titleist adjustable driver and now he has found a setting he likes, it's not going to change.

The point here is, if both of us had got our drivers fitted properly rather than bought from the shelf, we could've had fixed head drivers fitted to us and bought at a lower cost.

id go with this, I had the r11 (first issue) and it had so much adjustment all i ended up doing was adjusting the driver to mask swing flaws. didnt get on with it and outed it, through no fault of the driver.

went back to burner, which was non adjustable, sorted the issues and was all back on track, then was fitted for the amp, which although adjustable is set in neutral, as is the amp hybrid and fairway which are also adjustable.

the biggest bonus i see with them is the option to swap shafts as you wish, obviously this is based on getting the right connector fitted to the shaft. Up unti sunday i was tempted to experiment with a lower launching shaft, but after oplaying with tee heights i doubt i will bother, dropping the tee height it alot cheaper than a new shaft,.
