Stupidly played in a charity football match 3 weeks ago and an old injury flared up. Still sore, hobbling around a bit and going on our delayed annual lads trip next weekend.

As a right handed golfer, how much impact on our right achilles is used during your swing? If it was my left achilles I think, if I'm correct in my thinking, that it would affect my swing/stance/weight distribution more.

I have a very bad left Achilles, however during the swing I feel no discomfort.
When walking just a little till it warms up.
Afterwards it’s a bitch for a day or so.
I suspect on the right foot it would be similar

Had some physio last week and have been doing stretches and it has eased a little. Like yourself it starts to ease up when I've been walking but the next couple of days after football it was killing!

Do you mind me asking your age.
I’m 56 ,did my Achilles when I played football in my 30s.
Had 4 cortisone injections when the doctor was telling me he would do 2 but I kept asking.
He did say I would suffer later in life.

45. Hasn't troubled me at all for over 10 years since I last played football.

I tore my right achilles last year playing football. I was able to play golf after a few weeks. The main issue was walking around the course, I had to get a trolley as I couldn't carry a bag any more. The actual swing was barely affected, it's as bad as ever.
