Absolutely stunning golf lesson...

In AG in Croydon, the shop assistant didn't even know they sold them. :(

My local AG, hadnt even heard of alignment sticks, 3 of them standing behind the counter and not one of them had a clue

Sounds pretty much like my local AG :mmm:

The only good thing about it is the Mizuno DNA fitting. Their advice and product knowledge is pants!

Try AG Camberley then. The guys in there know their stuff. Very helpfull and good to chat to about the game.

Never mind all that...the real question...is she fit? ;)

Ahh bless. She's even looking after Tiger's clubs for him.

I come on her full of enthusiasm and positivity. Given, by my effervescent standards, I was pretty downbeat about my golf before Christmas this was a good sign. I tell you all about how finding a specialist short game coach has helped me no end and that for the first time I have a real sense of confidence in my pitching. However, I made the schoolboy error of mentioning her gender to a group of adults (some of whom quite clearly are still prepubescent - Aztecs I'm looking at you) and all I get is:

Is she fit, a thread hijack about AG custom fitting and claims that my game is still infantile in its development (though to be fair this last observation and supporting imagery is actually pretty damn sharp witted).

Thanks guys you really know how to urinate all over a guys parade...

;)

Stop your whining and go practice your short game ;)

For the record, I'm genuinely pleased at your breakthrough. I went through similar emotions last year when Bob showed me how to play a pitch shot and haven't looked back. A good short game is money.

Glad to hear your game is coming along fella. Nothing like seeing your progress in the flesh. Had a bit of a mess around on the practice ground last week and have been hitting my wedges so much better since, especially from 50 - 75 yards. Just hope it's not a flash in the pan phase! :)

Hope you've turned a corner as well and glad to hear your pitching is coming along well. I can't wait to get out on the course now, roll on Sunday!

Have decided not to play in the final round of the Winter League in a couple of weeks as the practice area will be quiet so I can spend four hours working on my yardages and bunker play. Just been on SmartPro and started working on my goals for the season and monthly objectives. To many that will probably seem like too much hard work, but I have done lots of evaluation and research so am totally bought into the idea of identifying small steps to a big goal. I know I can execute the shots, just need to know how far each of them go and most importantly believe I can make it happen. :D

What's funny is four months ago I decided I just wanted to enjoy my golf, but in all seriousness I don't think I've ever enjoyed it more!!! Keep me posted on your progress Achilles!

Knowing you can hit the shots is half the battle. Amazing what that little bit of extra confidence can do!

Our first Medal is next Tuesday and I absolutely positively cannot wait!! I have Friday off so will be practicing during the morning before going out for a round with a friend in the afternoon. Plan on playing Saturday and Sunday too, so I'm hoping things will come together. Trying not to set my hopes too high though and will be going out will the attitude of enjoying a round. No more, no less. Let's hope it works. What sort of targets have you set? Any handicap aims at this stage?

You're not wrong about confidence. When in my lesson my pro was telling me the yardage to certain markers and asking me to hit them and I was selecting clubs and swing length and sticking it to two foot my jaw was on the floor, especially given the fact that the previous lesson I was spraying it all over the show!)

I've not spoken with her about my long term and 2012 handicap goals and want them to be based on reality i.e. pushing myself hard enough but not biting off more than I can chew. That said my primary goal this year is to break 90 in a competitive round, PYB has really caught my imagination!

Have a great knock on Tuesday!!! :)

You due on tiger.....

To be honest I wouldn't care if the teaching pro wa male, female, fit or looked like Herman Munster as long as they imparted the advice I needed and got me playingbetter golf. I haven't seen Tiger this keen since he started his blog and was desperate to get his handicap down. I know he was down at the end of last year and couldn't translate practice into results (sounds familiar) but I can see him really kicking on now. If you are confident in what you are doing, especially the short game, it's going to translate into the rest of the game too
