I was lucky enough to be invited through to Aberdour Golf Club today for a game with Alan Russell (Algar5).
All I can say is wow what a lovely little course. Situated on the banks of the Forth its a part links part parkland course. Looking at the length from the yellows it looks like a stroll in the park at 5106 yards long.
Think again!
The opening two holes, both par 3's are enough to strike fear into the heart of a heartless beast with the OOB and indeed the Forth estuary far far too close for comfort. Well, too close for Alan, not me!

The greens were magnificent, absolutely top drawer, near perfect surface with so many subtle breaks and undulations. The greens here are the defence, they are exceedingly difficult to read and getting the pace is vital. A putt with an ounce too much on it could easily leave a 6 foot plus putt back and that is not an exaggeration.
Scenery is also well worth the trip. Great course, loved it too bits shame my game was rather poor, especially on the front nine. If I play it again the big dog will make rather less appearances, a 4 iron into position is all that's required on this course instead of the macho gun slinger. Possibly not as much fun but position is vital.
Only down side was the company, still I cant have everything.
Only kidding Alan I loved it.
If your lucky enough for Alan to invite you along for a game I recommend that you jump at the chance.

Its my lucky week as AMcC has invited Alan and myself to Irvine Bogside on Sunday, one of Ayrshire's many wonderful links tracks.
