My only stableford until June today, and it was a very strange 18 holes.
Started off okay and was 8 over through 7, but then carded an 8 which left me 12 over through 9, so 48 in.
The back 9 was completely different. Started off with 4 bogeys which isn't bad, but on the last 5 holes I went
Par, Par, Par, Par, Birdie, for a PB round of 85, PB back 9 of 38! And 44 points in the stable ford.
Ending it on a high eh ?

Anyone else had any good rounds today ? ;)

Well played! That's a great back 9! I'm looking to break 100 and hit 49 on the front 9 this morning. Started to think today was the day. Then my last 5 holes were 8.9.8.9.4 to finish with a 108. Just seemed to lose my concentration and went back to the issues I have had with my swing (flat swing plane). It was my best score around the course but I felt really disappointed I let it slip. It's coming though!

your game sounds like mine ive broke 100 once, and 102 is the closest i have been since, i just usually start bad and pull it back towards the end! concrats on the course PB, just keep at it and it will all come together for you!

Thanks Richie! As awful as this sounds, I'm glad to hear I'm not alone. The guy I played with today is off 16 and he hit 99 so I did not do bad in relation to handicaps.

I was also trying to break 100 today for the first time at the track I've joined. 4th time playing it. Got 105 today, that was with a 12 on the first though, didn't realise how important a warm up is. Playing partner was well late so we didn't have time for a warm up. Also had a 10 on the 10th. It hailed and rained for last 3 holes also.

I had a similar tale of two different 9s on Monday.

Was playing Troon Lochgreen and (assuming a 10 for my nr on one hole) went out in 55! Then, on the 10th i hit a 200 yard approach to 5 foot which gave me confidence and went on to score a 2 over 38 for the back 9!

Front 9 was like i had never held a club before, then back 9 just totally came together!

I love this sport....

Correct me if i'm wrong but is that not a PB of 86? Good shooting non the less!

There's your problem right there

Is the correct answer. As soon as you get carried away and start thinking what you need to do or what you need to score on the next hole you've lost it. You try and play too attacking and make a few pars or birdies or too defensive protecting what you hold. The swing gets quicker and tighter, you make poor decisions and it goes to rat poop. Just keep doing what you've already done and worry about the scores at the end

Well said Homer. You can only hit one shot at a time so concentrate on that one. If it's bad then forget it, it has passed, concentrate on the next one.
