I challenge you all.......to not watch/read/listen to any news for 24 hours.
No TV news, radio, newspapers or internet.

You certainly won't miss anything as it will still be there the next day.
You'll probably be happier, not looking for things to winge about and to wind you up.
And if something important does happen in those 24 hours, you'll probably read it on here (especially if someone famous dies).

If you manage to resist/avoid the news for 24 hours, try 48 hours and see how you feel.

Or is everyone so hooked on news they can't last a couple of days without it?

I did it on holiday last year, not deliberately. It is an odd feeling when you are used to catching the news regularly but you do feel more relaxed, the world keeps turning.

I don't think about doing it in the UK but maybe I should every so often. Good suggestion.

Exactly my point.

What point is that... ignorance is bliss?

I agree but its hardly breaking news (see what I did there) and of course then you get into the counter point about all the news that can benefit you that you miss out on

I didn't say stop watching the news forever, just one day as an experiment.

As LT wrote, the world keeps turning.

Judging by the lack of replies after 210 views I guess I was right, people have become addicted to news.

I don’t watch the news programs or read news websites unless I’m searching for something

But because the majority will listen to the radio or watch telly then news bulletins will come up and it’s hard to avoid - also people use social media a lot and news pops on that.

I wouldn’t suggest that people aren’t “addicted to news” because they don’t want to take part in a social experiment but for a lot of people news is helpful to them , will be part of their job and some like to know what’s going on

This is something I do when I’m on holiday. I also take off my watch when on holiday. I eat when I’m hungry and sleep when I’m tired.

I am aware of that, thats why I wrote in the OP........

Brilliant :D

I don't usually watch TV news, and would actively change the channel to something else, or would be watching something we have on the sky planner or netflix anyway.

News these days is either death, murder, terrorists or some wannabe 'celeb' dancing/jungle doing some vapid crap.

My life is too short to waste on garbage tv.
