1st round of the singles matchplay yesterday and I took a beating of 7&6 shaking hands on the 12th. Gutted

I didn't play very well, my driving was bad but my opponent off 22 was no more than 9 over gross over 12 holes and played very well.

Disappointed I never gave him a game but when you get beat like that there's no excuses.

Ask bigslice and Algar and they'll tell you all about the feeling!
:whoo:

Without opening an old can of worms, if a high handicaper clicks on the day and gets a few shots then it'll be tough to win anyway but if you are having a bit of a stinker too then its even harder to play against. Chin up and onwards and upwards (apart from your handicap of course)

Well after my drubbing a few weeks ago it was our doubles match yesterday and with this still fresh in my memory I was determined to perform better.

We ended up winning 2&1 with me carrying my partner who had a shocker for 15 holes, and now face the fella who gave me a beating in the next round!
.
Revenge is certainly on my mind.

We were 1down thru 11 then I won 12,13,14 and just halved the others with a great up and down on 17 for par.

That's really odd, had never heard of a dog licence before until I played with Swanny in the first round of our summer pairs, and here it is again.

We missed out on the dog licence by losing 8 and 6 so don't worry yours isn't the worst.

Is he still off 22?

Talk about admitting defeat before you've even started....or are you a time traveller ?
;)

Matchplay is a funny thing, you can play the same golf but in one match be sitting over a 3 footer on the 18th for the win or be shaking hands on the 12th for a loss.
