I got several calls last year to subscribe to a 'cough' different golf magazine but offerd me 3 issues for a pound AND a dozen Srixon Z's. I thought it was one or the other but this guy insisted on both.

I didnt get the balls, chased them up 3 times threatened to cancel etc, in the end I got a copy of the mag in Sept.

Then a few days later the Z's arrived.:)

Then the next day another dozen. :):)

I didnt get the latest issue and i called them up and they said the subscription is cancelled.

I'm not a great fan of this particular one and did it to have a brief flick thru but mainly for the balls.

So I ended up with 24 Srixons and 3 mags for £1.

V nice, I canceled my subs to Today`s Golfer at Christmas, I was just sick of having to chase them for mags that did not arrive and all the content seemed to be coaching with pictures and comments in bubbles. I don't read golf mags to learn how to play golf. I thought it was poop and I don't miss it!

personal opinion.

For about 10 years I bought Golf Monthly AND Golf World every month religiously

I ONLY buy Golf Monthly now, it sits well with 'my eye' and I like the style of writing, articles and overall 'feel' if that makes sense.
The rest just aren't up to Par....................../see what I did

I like Golf World and Golf International and tend to buy the former most months and the latter if there is somethin of interest. Funny how TG and GW come out of the same stable but are poles apart in terms of quality. Bit like comparing the Daily Star and the Guardian.

I lost interest in TG for a number of reasons. Had a small article published last year argung against the use of buggies and never got the promised gift for my labour despite numerous calls and e-mails. Also, it seems to be the same three manufacturers (Ping, Cally and TM) that scoop their awards when testing new products and others rarely get a mention. The articles are poorly written and the layout is shoddy. Its even creeping up and up in price

I prefer my mags to focus on useful stuff like articles on new equipment, fittings, course reports, etc. rather than 46 pages of "shoot 4 under par NOW" instructions.

Price goes up and page count down, I just got bored with the same tired reports and reviews.

I buy GM on a monthly basis. It's like a comfy pair of slippers!!!:D

Usual airport shop purchase tends to be TG or GW. Basically because I will have already or will buy GM later. I agree about TG, over recent times it has become a golf tutorial magazine. I prefer to read about other aspects of the game thank you!

To be honest I'm getting fed up with the Golf Monthly mag as it seems to be the same old regurgitated stuff especially the better by Saturday, coaching methods on how to play a bunker shot etc.

Although it does have some good interviews, Wayne reillys piece and McDowell's column I find it very repetitive.

I dont like TG either. Always struck me as a bit patrionising (e.g. you too could break 110 if you follow these simple rules!). Must say I quite like GI and that is my stock airport purchase.
Cant stand golf punk! What is the point of a soft porn golf mag?? If you wan porn - buy it! If you want a golf mag - buy that too!

My only gripe with golf mags in general and this includes GM is that there are too many articles conatining irrelevent drivel - as though the author has nothing better to write about. Oh and coaching pages could do with a test with a handicap table. So if you are off of 10 for example, you know you should getting X out of 10 of these type of bunker shots within say 5 feet, or holing X out of 10 from 10 ft on the putting green.

That nearly turned into a rant their - but I think I saved myself (just about)! :ooo:

Go with what you know, I knew nothing 6 months ago. 1911 or so means alot me. My only feel is GM is trying compete with "glamour look at me mags" when I guess it should do what it does best.
