Hi my signature is a bit premature but I am getting a titleist 910 d3 driver.

And was wondering what shaft to choose. Dont mind bit of extra charge if there is some.

My swing speed is bettween 115 and 120 the drive is the main part of my game.

Currently using a dvs 65 stiff and am hitting the ball high and left.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Are you trying to get the ball flight down or are you ok with how it is?

The shafts are so different the only way is to try them. I produced too much spin with all the Diamana variants but the RIP60 bought it down to acceptable levels.

115-120mph is definitely in X shaft territory, although some S shafts may do if you have a smooth tempo. You need to be fitted by a specialist, or better still, at Titleist in Cambridgeshire.

The PX shaft in 6.5 might be worth a look. It is available as a custom option at no extra cost.

You are not TimGolfy in disguise are you. Same swing speed, same handicap i smell a rat. :D :D

Great club, had mine a couple of weeks, and so much better than my previous Ping G15. Unfortunately my swing speed is in the slow lane, so i got the bog standard Diamana blue shaft. ;)

If you are swinging it above 115mph then Id be very surprised if you will get on with any of the stock shafts, even in X flex.

I must have tried about 15+ shafts, mainly in X flex but ended up actually with a heavier shaft in S flex and less clubhead loft (Motore 75g shaft and 8.5degree head).

At your swing speed, you MUST go and have a proper custom fit where they have a full range of shafts for you to try and find what suits

Thanks fundy, its a shame they made this driver but not a decent stock shaft to cater all swings! What would you suggest for someone wanting to achieve a more penetrating ballflight that keeps shape and distance!

Without costing as much as the driver in upcharge !

Really hard to say without a fit WW. The problem with stock shafts is swings speeds over 115mph is a tiny proportion of their sales and an even smaller propertion of stock shaft sales.

I tried all the stock shafts in X flex, I then went through the majority of the upgrade shafts, some in X and some in S flex, with a very knowledgeable fitter, the process probably took close to 3 hrs in total for me to find a shaft I was happy with.

The big issue for me as well as ball flight was feel and most shafts fell down on one of 2 things, either they were too light and I didnt feel in control or they were a bit unresponsive and "boardy". It was this latter point that led to me ending up with a heavier shaft in S flex, as it just gave me a little bit more feedback, but the weight meant it was strong enough for my swing speed (all be it I sacrificed a little distance compared to the lighter shafts).

At the end of the day I think the Motore was less than a £50 upcharge, which if youre already spending £200 plus seemed very little to make it the right shaft

Well if you want a lower ball flight certainly get rid of the DVS shaft.

Everyone seems to have the RIP shafts but my swing speed was 115+ at my fitting and I ended up with the kah'li stiff shaft in it.

Not sure what would be right for you but I love it, never hit a driver as well in my life as I am at the moment with this club and shaft.

Shows the benefot of custom fit I suppose as I had the R11, Superfast, Callway something or other aswell....

I agree, I tried the RIP on a Callaway fitting and it was rank, nasty wasteful high ball flight and felt dead to me. The fitter tried to tell me it was the most loved shaft on tour, not really relevant as I am not on tour at the moment tour :D. It was the stock shaft for that driver and the spin was killing me.

I am not as fast as you, more like 107MPH and ended up with the Kaili. I tried the real not "made for Titleist" Kaili and it was unreal so opted for the made for in my 910F & H.. just want the driver now.

THose words describe my feelings towards it too. Dont understand why titleist have decided to put together a crap range of stock for the 910 when the 909 shafts were much better. I would rather pay 300 for a decent selection of stock shafts than 250 for sub standard. Might be different in the 3 woods alex as im looking to invest in that department too.

Just make it simple titleist!

I have to say I like the stock shafts but I do really like the old Diamana Blue in my 909H. OK the RIP is not to our liking but you have 3 Diamana options and a Project X. I dont see any other manufactures offering anything more than once crap stock option.

As Fundy says, your swing speed is pretty extreme. They do some of the stock Diamans in X but they were not for him, they may be for you though. That said "made for" shafts are said to be a little softer.

I think with a high ball flight like you and I its tempting to go for a low launch high kick shaft but it may be better to go for a mid as I have done as it works in summer and winter.
