9 hole golf courses

Perhaps we need more 27 hole courses with three loops of nine as you get on the continent and USA.

That's the set up at Forest Pines 3 sets of 9, and it works well.

I really like a 9 holer. Especially where they have different tees on the "back" 9.

Holtye, which is down the road from me, has this alongside one of my favourite holes on any course I've ever played.

And Southwold, where I played last Friday on a weekend away had excellent variety including a number of holes not only changing angle to green etc but 1 hole changed from short par 4 to long par 3 and another long 4 to short 5.

Well thought out and designed 9 hole courses are great.

If things carry on as they are now, by the end of the century golf will only be 3 holes in order to get it back within 5 hours!!


A par 3 of 375 yards and two par 4s of over 700.

In 2094, the WHS, abandoned in 2032, is back before the R&A for reconsideration

There is a decent par 3 course at Lavender Park. Good for sharpening the short game and the pro I use there for lessons will sometimes drag me out for a few holes after a short game lesson

One of the reasons I like my course is I can play the first 6 or 7 holes and shoot or play first 8 and the 18th (original 9 holer many many years ago). In the winter the Saturday comps are 13 holes as it isn’t far away from the car park.
