Interesting theory as more and more pro's carry hybrids. Also, as for making the ball stop, what's wrong with the chip and run?

As has been said, a lot of pros carry hybrids and I'm fairly sure they're not rubbish.

A 64deg lob is never a must. Unless you're highly proficient at using it, it will cost you more shots than it will save you.

The right hybrid is a great club to have in the bag.

I love my hybrid, it's the most versatile club in the bag. I chose one over a 5 wood because of it's versatility.
