5th extra hole

On wednesday i played in our scratch cup against a 7 handicapper,myself off 10.
The game was nip and tuck,my opponent 2 up after 8 he was still 1 up after 17 so only had to half the last.
He put his first in the trees and it stayed up the tree and his 2nd OOB so all square.
I had a great chance at the first extra missing a 6 footer by an inch,he needed a great save at the 2nd extra,then he had a chance to win the 4th extra but ran it 5ft past but got the return for the half.
My opponent unfortunately won with a par 3 on the 5th extra hole.
I was disapointed but all in all not to bad because it was a good game and he was a very friendly guy.
How far have you gone in a matchplay game,or do you know of any match that has gone on for ages.

Farthest I've been was 3rd extra hole in a pairs match.

Not the same format, but in the northern matchplay, I heard of an amazing game. The 1st round of a singles match was over 36 holes, obviously home and away.

In this particular game one fella was 9 up after his home leg. Apparently he also won the first on the away leg to be 10 up, but lost the match overall, I think within the 36 holes.

Ouch.
