444 Yard Hole In One - The longest ever

Just read this interesting story on Golf Digest, regarding the longest ever hole in one, recorded by Bob Mitera in 1965. Thought it was an interesting article and worth a share.

One of mine was 300 yards. the old 4th hole at Puttenham. [now 3rd and remeasured off a new tee]
Perfect drive and line, sun and wind at my back, saw it all the way into the hole.

Never had one of any length but I did once witness, or didn't as the green was blind to us on the tee, a playing partner holing his tee shot on our 294 yard 8th.

Seemed impressive at the time but pales a little against this one!

That's a great read.
I went from not knowing, to being doubtful, to believing by the end.

Exactly the same. The way the article was written, you kind of feel the author was trying to disprove it at first.
