4 putt triple bogey!

I have 3 putted from inside 3 feet before. Putting for a birdie after a lovely approach so walking of with a bogey was gutting. No yips, just a bit firm on a fast down hill putt with a slight break and knocked it 4 ft past. Of course then didn't hit the one coming back quite hard enough and it stopped on the lip. :(

I played with a forum member at Blackmoor a few weeks back. Par 4 10th hole is really difficult and to get on there in two is a bit of an achievement. He hit a glorious drive, and a beautiful 2nd shot to set himself up for a birdie. He walked off with a 7 after 5 putting.
I expect he'll be along in a few minutes to tell you all about it.

I feel the pain. I putted off that green after going beyond the flag at a forum meet a few years back to leave myself a 30 ft putt back from the front fringe.

I once 6 putted after hitting my tee shot to 20 feet at a par-3. However that was when I was suffering from the yips. The shortest putt I missed was only about 9 inches! :(

I know that the forum member in question is majoring on the 2 shots to get on and has apparently forgotten any putting issues of the day!

Unlike his 3 playing partners who had forgotten the 2 shots to get on.
The 5 putts were much more memorable, as were LIGS on a par 5 at Gainsborough for a double bogey after hitting two glorious shots to get on in two.
We'd forgotten about those two too.

Apparently Jack Nicklaus never 3 putted (he did, but wiped them from his memory) this particular forum member has done the same - it's a shame other forum members with the memory of an elephant can't do the same!

It never happened, it never happened it never ............ I

And???
Did you better a 7?????

Probably not as I was on in 3. Have a feeling I may have eventually picked up as it was S/ford. My memories of what happened after I watched my putt accelerating past the hole and race away down the hill are rather vague as I was in a state of combined shock and embarrassment.

Any similar tales of putting woes recently? :(
Only 4 putts? That's nothing. A few weeks ago I was putting for a birdie from about 12 feet on our par 4 fifth. First putt missed the hole by about 1 inch and slid less than 2 feet past. My playing partners then watched in horror as I stabbed it back and forth. Walked off with a 7. Had to laugh in order not to cry. Brought back memories of that Marty Feldman sketch where he ends up trying to pot the ball in the dark, snooker-style.

I lost a hole in spectacular fashion this year to birchy. on the green in 2. Putted off and down the bank. 2 chips followed by 3 more putts.

I can still hear the laughter. :mmm:

It might have paid to declare the ball unplayable after the first putt and played the putt again under penalty! :smirk: a
