3 woods

I have a very steep angle of attack and consequently my 3-wood is set to 16.5deg, as well as upright. Launches very well for me, and I get considerably more carry with it than when the loft is set lower. Proper fitting is the answer, just because the loft is lower you aren't automatically going to gain yards unless your launch angles etc are good.

The point of the thread looks to have been lost. I was just curious to see if others have had found these to launch low from the fairway. I do not havea problem hitting it, I just do not get the trajectory that I would like. Also I am not bothered about distance, it just needs to go further than my hybrid.

Adey,
I was told by the pro I have lessons with at the Belfry that when he's done CF with the RBZ fairway woods the height of shots from the deck has been an issue.
He puts it down to the face "collapsing" on impact, ie when you hit it the loft almost decreases because of the way the face is made with the pocket behind it folding backwards.

Does that make any sense?

i will take you up on that offer, cheers

The 3 clubs that are at the front of my mind are the G25, 910 or 913.

More than happy for you to have a swing with my Orka GS5 at the weekend as well if you want. I have been over the moon with that.

I had exactly the same issue with a Ping G25 3 wood with a tour stiff shaft. Off the tee it would go more than high enough with a good carry and role out. Off the deck it was useless, just wouldnt get the height to get the carry needed to hit greens.
Ended up moving to a i20 5 wood, lost 10-15yrds off the tee but gained a good 30-40yrds carry and distance with it off the fairway.

YEs that certainly makes a lot of sense, I had never thought of that. SO basically because the face collapsing and reducing loft, all of a sudden you end up with the loft of a driver, which would make a lot of sense because even though it is going long and straight I have the low trajectory. Basically when I hit it I would say it carries 80% and runs the other 20% a bit like a driver. But I want a lot more carry and less roll, to enable me to hit it at greens.

My RBZ (original version) has great ball flight off the deck, on very windy days (this weekend) it was a pain as I tried to reduce ball height to get some more distance.

I think the general opinion is as a club golfer it can be difficult to get the perfect 3-wood. I remember chatting to the lads in the Ping tour van at the Forest of Arden about 3 woods. they said that it can be difficult to get the perfect one and that is talking about tour pros. Only advantage they have is they can try all of them with different shafts in to get the correct one.

I asked my mate at work today if he would let me have my SuperFast 2.0 TP back, I am not allowed to repeat his answer on here though......
